Would you prefer them have Joe Webb start and teach Ponder how to be an NFL quarterback? You are acting as if the Vikings have an endless line of Pro Bowl quarterbacks just waiting to join the team. Minnesota will take what they can get at the position, and if McNabb is the best they get, well it is sure as hell an upgrade.

McNabb COULD be a good bridge until Ponder is ready ... if McNabb stays in shape and can produce. There's no way Ponder is ready to start as a rookie, and Webb really can't be his mentor.

McNabb has a 2 or 3 seasons in the tank. He would have thrown for 4000 yards last year if he wasnt benched the final three. His WR sucked balls, half of his INTs hit the WR in the hands and then right to the DBs. Plus the 4 RBs they went through.

He will have Shiancoe (I think mcnabb likes his TEs but I may be wrong what do I know) Harvin as his deep threat, and I think Rice will stay if Mcnabb comes there.

We are getting a ham sandwich for Haynesworth though.

McNabb was never a great player, and is washed up. He will eat a shit ton of cap space, and Minnesota is going nowhere with or without him.

This would be a good P.R. move, but unless you tell me he is nothing more than a placeholder keeping the seat warm, this will end badly just like McNabb in Washington.

He didn't have shit, we still had Santana Moss (though I don't like the fact we brought him back, provided he's not the only move we make at receiver) as well as Chris Cooley and Anthony Armstrong (always found a way to get open, almost 20 yards per catch.) It was Kyle Shanahan not liking McNabb for whatever reason, and not having a running game or interior line.

Kyle Orton? Kevin Kolb? shit, maybe even Carson Palmer? these are guys you can trade for who are way better than McNabb at this point in his career, and in Orton's case, could probably be had for the same price + maybe a spare part. Matt Hasselbeck? Marc Bulger? Veterans you can have without the primadonna bullshit, who are equally short term solutions, and without needing to give up a draft pick.

So which is it? are the Vikings trying to win now? Then trade for somebody who isnt washed up. do they honestly think they are a playoff team with McNabb? they arent. Are they trying to put a body out there to let Ponder watch and learn? then why the fuck are you giving up a draft pick for the guy if you arent trying to win this year anyway? a draft pick for a guy that is going to get cut by the start of the league year on aug 4th at the latest, and by all accounts, has had 0 interest from anyone else?

Then, once you do bench McNabb for Ponder, which everyone who is supporting the move seems to indicate, heres what you'll get:

just a metric fuckton of Donovan McNabb face. the only guy who has a more negative effect on his team or sulks harder than him is Jay Cutler. His ego is too big to ride the pine, and he has to be coddled too much (financial apology anyone?). Plus, like it or not, he's always going to be known as the guy who puked his guts out and wilted under the pressure in the Superbowl. That is not somebody you want your franchise QB to emulate, nor can you really expect to show respect for.

McNabb needs to go someplace that doesnt have a long term solution at QB on the roster yet, someplace like Buffalo or Arizona or (before today anyway) Seattle. He is not going to be happy keeping the seat warm for anybody, and the only way he's going to get a team anywhere is if he at least thinks they beleive in him as more than a 1 year rental.

I blame the system and the inability to adjust to McNabb. Simply put, Kyle Shanahan should have tailored the system to McNabb, and not the other way around. McNabb is still a solid quarterback, should never have been benched and should still be starting for the Redskins.

im not the biggest McNabb supporter but it was just one game vs the #1 defense last year im not saying hes going to be great or even good just cant completely call him done yet

He looked awful pretty much all last year and looked ten times worse on Sunday. He hasn't done anything to suggest that he's not done. So I think we can call him completely done. How many games are we suppose to wait. Against any NFL defense, last years #1 or not, 7/15, for 39 yards is absolutely awful.
