I don't know if Alabama is deserving of a title shot, or if anybody wants to see it, but one thing is PAINFULLY clear... Alabama and LSU are the best two teams in the country.

No it isn't painfully clear, this is just the narrative we've had to listen to since ~mid-season on. Alabama's resume compared to OK State's isn't that great. Their biggest accomplishment is playing LSU close.

Bama hasn't even been in a game besides LSU. That's the point. It's one thing to win like Oklahoma St is, maybe pull a game out at the end, but the Tide have been consistently dominant.

Bama has 10 wins against FBS teams this season, only 3 of those wins against teams with winning records.

OK State already has twice that with a game to go.

The reason nobody wants a rematch is because it proves nothing. If Alabama wins, it means a split between the two teams, both with one loss overall, yet Bama gets the title because they won last. Awesome.

Just get someone else in there. Anyone.

As for "who is the best one loss team", unfortunately we will never know. Every other league on the planet decides these things on the field.

Look, I'm not saying the game should happen. I agree with W2B on that, it proves nothing. But NOBODY can argue that Bama isn't the number two team in the country and the best competition for LSU.

This is the problem with the BCS, rewarding losses and discrediting wins.

Every game counts....unless you're Houston or Boise. Let's punish Boise for losing to a good TCU team on a missed FG at the gun. I wonder what the excuse would be had they won, because you know they aren't putting Boise in no matter what.

Can't wait to see THE CARTEL match Boise with Houston like they did when they matched Boise with TCU.

I mentioned this in the chatbox yesterday, but in 2006, the pollsters moved Florida in front of Michigan in the final week because Michigan had already had their shot at #1, and lost.

Now, based on that logic, shouldn't Oklahoma State jump Alabama? Especially considering that Michigan lost on the road and Alabama lost at home. This isn't the basis of my argument for Oklahoma State or another non-Alabama school to get in, but it deserves to be mentioned IMO.

If Oklahoma St wins this weekend, than to me they should be in the championship game. I think the circumstances under which they lost that game at Iowa St should be taken into consideration when the pollers vote.

The problem I have is every single BCS supporter says the regular season replaces the playoffs, which makes it more meaningful. If that is the case, than what does it say about the "game of the century" when the outcome was essentially meaningless to the national championship picture?

I don't know of many playoff formats that put teams in a championship game after losing a "playoff" game just because people think their the best team.

I would call it meaningless if other teams were undefeated and Bama was still ahead of them. Outside of Houston, which causes a whole different mess, the fact that everyone has one loss is what makes this game "irrelevant".

It's unfair to punish one team for losing, but not punish another for losing. At least that's what I assume is the logic. So when Bama lost to LSU, but all the other teams dropped a game as well, it leveled the playing field.

I know everybody here probably hates Saban, and I know he's in my avatar, but he's got a point here:

The Crimson Tide coach, who of course has a rooting interest, said Monday that voters should not vote against his team just to avoid a rematch with No. 1 LSU or because Alabama didn't win its conference title.

I'm just going by what these BCS fan boys are trying to sell me. The regular season replaces the playoffs. Bama had a shot at LSU as the number 2 team in the country and lost at home. They are sitting on their asses this week while Okie St goes out and plays a conference championship game against a team that was ranked number 1 at the beginning of the year.
