but in 2006, the pollsters moved Florida in front of Michigan in the final week because Michigan had already had their shot at #1, and lost.

In 2007 LSU jumped from #7 to #2 after the championship weekend in front of a whole bunch of teams that didn't win their conference.

I think this whole mess will sort itself out with a OK St. win and the human polls/element will be enough to overtake Alabama for the #2 spot.

They played 3 ranked teams and won by a combined 20 points (1 against Texas A&M, 12 against Texas, 7 against Kansas St).

Alabama played 6 ranked teams and won by a combined 93 points, including their 3 point loss to #1 LSU (16 points against Penn St, 24 against Arkansas, 28 against Florida, 3 point loss against LSU, 28 against Auburn).

Again, Alabama has not played a close game all season except LSU. No other team can claim that except LSU.

I heard that quote wasn't true. However, either way I could see him saying that if it helped his team at the time. That's how these coaches tend to be. When at Utah Urben Meyer use to always complain about the power conferences, but when he was Florida he no longer cared.

Trying to count Florida and Auburn as ranked teams is rich (you can throw A&M out too but this is all hinging on a win over OU so that'd be another top 25 win for OSU's favor anyway). That Texas, Baylor, K-State, Mizzou and (possibly) Oklahoma are all still ranked/currently ranked.

Oklahoma lost to an average Iowa St team while Alabama lost to the #1 team in the nation...but we've aleady seen LSU vs Alabama. I'm fine with the outcome. The argument that Okalhoma St played better teams has some merit IMO and I'd put a 1 loss OkSt in over a 1 loss Alabama

Yeah, but their loss is better than their wins at this point. If oSu can beat Oklahoma in addition to at Texas (albeit in a down year), and at A&M, and K State, I think they're deserving of 2nd. Better than beating an Arkansas team that has proven to be outclassed by better teams, a Penn St team that I don't think anyone would argue is really any good, Florida in a down year also. The SEC is living off reputation this year, IMO. They were the real deal last year, but I don't see it this year. LSU and Bama are very good teams, Arkansas is talented, but not there yet. Then teams like Florida and Auburn are slightly above average teams. Tennessee is a shell of it's former self. Georgia has fallen off, despite a solid year that looks a lot less impressive IF LSU blows the doors off of them. Auburn and Florida are bigger names than they are wins at this point, and are more comparable to other conferences 2nd tier teams that people let on. I just think a the way the BCS is set up and the reputation of the SEC, Bama has a built-in advantage. That and the obvious flaws in pre-season polls and losing earlier as opposed to later.

Which was first in line for the 1-loss teams, meaning Oklahoma State, playing a harder schedule and winning their conference, had to go undefeated or Alabama was automatically in the title game. Does that happen for ANY OTHER PROGRAM? No.

I'd much rather being arguing about who gets snubbed as the 9th team in an 8 team field than who gets snubbed as the 3rd team in a 2 team field.
