Why Oklahoma State is more deserving of a title shot than Bama

Which was first in line for the 1-loss teams, meaning Oklahoma State, playing a harder schedule and winning their conference, had to go undefeated or Alabama was automatically in the title game. Does that happen for ANY OTHER PROGRAM? No.

LSU would have fallen to the same place IMO and been in the same situation had they lost that game that closely at home.

Perhaps this year thanks to the high profile Oregon and WVU wins on national TV. But say this was a normal year and LSU played Kent State, Ga Southern, North Texas and one solid B1G team OOC like Iowa or Penn State... There's no way.

The only reason LSU got the respect they did this season is because they earned it on the field. I am failing to see what Alabama had done prior to the LSU game to earn such respect, and there's no doubt in my mind no other program gets the same amount of leeway. They beat Penn State and Arkansas in the first month of the season, lost to LSU at home, and haven't notched an impressive W since. WHAT A RESUME!

We all know the preseason polls have a ton to do with it. As well as the massive hype around the LSU-Alabama matchup. Everyone was treating that as the l33t game between the l33t teams. Regardless of resumes before or after that game I realy doubt either team was going to fall very far with a loss, especially with one that close.

Hell in 2005 ND lost at home to SC, and had already lost at home to an MSU team that finished 5-6 or something....and they only dropped 1 spot in the polling and I think may have held their pre-game spot in the other.

*Correction* They dropped 3 spots in the coaches poll. They held their previous ranking of #9 in the AP Poll.

Which games? The Penn State and Arkansas games? Penn State was 27-11, and well they aren't a very good team. They have no wins over the current t25 and got hammered last week by Wisconsin. Alabama beat Arkansas by a lot, sure, but Arkansas has but 1 win over the t25 and they got blown out by the two best teams in their division.

If you are referring to the lopsidedness of Bama's other games, well frankly I don't care because I have already explained that I consider their slate of opponents to be rather punchless this season.

I think a lopsided win says a lot about your team (especially when you do it consistently), apparently no one else does. It's not easy to win games by 20+ week in and week out. I don't really care who it's against. No one else has done it every week except LSU. No one. Period.

Everyone is knocking who they played. They beat Kent St 48-7, they beat North Texas 41-0, Vandy 34-0, Ole Miss 52-7. That's 175-14 in those four games. You really can't play any better.

How is Baylor any different than Arkansas? How is Texas any different than Penn St? I just don't understand how the games played are that different.

It amazes me how good Bama and LSU are this season, regardless of what happens. And I've said before that a rematch is not really something I'm interested in. But there's just no way I can justify someone saying Bama isn't the second best team in the country.

And for what it's worth, I think they're the best team. They outplayed LSU as far as I'm concerned. Credit the Tigers for getting one more FG, but it was Bama's game to lose.

Funny how this argument can be made to defend Bama but also used to hate on teams like Boise in different years.

Also for the record... games v North Texas and other schools that are accepting a beatdown for the money should be ignored completely in any argument. They don't have a single player who is fit to play in the SEC nevermind matchup against Alabama.

The only person to say anything definitive is you when you said something to the effect of it being beyond a question that Alabama is the second best team in the nation. A lot of people disagree with that idea.

Also people don't want to see a rematch of a game we already saw that in the end doesn't really solve much either way.(assuming OK ST wins out)

If LSU wins we get a result we already knew, LSU>Bama. And Ok St is left as a very desrving one loss team looking in from the outside. Which just seems dumb.

If Bama wins then you have the top 2 teams splitting the matchups and what does that really solve? And then you have 3 one loss teams(possibly 7 if Stanford/Boise/Va Tech wins out and Houston loses)....all with really strong resumes(except Stanford/BSU/VaTech/Houston).

The entire situation is FUBAR, yeah, we get it. But what makes the most sense to most people is rather than a rematch that serves to solve nothing, throw in a very very good and very deserving Ok St team up against LSU for the NC.

Yeah. I know. It seems really simple.

The only counter argument is that Ok St lost to Iowa St. Yeah. Ok. Anything else? Does that one loss to Iowa St really prove Alabama is so much better than Ok St? If Ok St was undefeated and Alabama had a squeker loss to LSU I'm sure some people would still say Alabama was the second best team. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if DSpyder would.
