The rumored $99 Xbox 360 with two-year $15 a month contract is official. It includes a Kinect, Xbox Live Gold service and a two-year warranty. The offer is now available on the Microsoft Store site.

The math works out to roughly $460 for the bundle over the next two years. Currently the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle goes for $277 on Amazon, with Gold costing about $50 a year, for a grand upfront total of $377 if you bought today.

Study: Xbox 360 most popular non-PC device for watching video ads

The Xbox 360 is the most popular non-PC device for viewing online video, beating out iOS and Android handhelds, according to a study by online-video ad company Freewheel. Freewheel measured "professional content" only, meaning video that runs with ads -- meaning it really conducted a study on how many online ads we watch -- from companies such as NBC, CBS, ESPN and Vevo. The study didn't account for Netflix or YouTube viewership.

Xbox 360 took 28.2 percent of all viewership, followed by iPad with 27.1 percent, then iPhone, Android and iPod Touch on a decreasing scale.

In March, Microsoft announced that Xbox 360 owners use the console more for its entertainment apps than for any actual gaming purposes, spending more than half of their Xbox time on Netflix and other music and video applications. Even though the Freewheel study doesn't include Netflix views, it does support the console evolutionary theory: One day our gaming consoles will have mutated so drastically that we'll have an entirely new species, called simply "entertainment consoles."

My Xbox Live app launches on Android, more functionality added to iOS version

A couple of big announcements for Microsoft's My Xbox Live today. First, the app has been released for Android devices, giving users of the OS access to Xbox Live features such as Achievements, messages and other social content.

Meanwhile, the iOS version has seen some significant improvements, notably the ability to control the Xbox console remotely. Specifically, you can fire up games from your collection or launch a selection of curated content (featured games, movies, etc.). You can even directly control some applications, such as Netflix. There is, however, a slight delay between phone taps and on-screen reaction, so you're probably better off using a controller. Still, it's pretty nifty and gives us a hint of what we can expect from Smartglass later this year.

Finally, the iPad version of My Xbox Live now features Retina Display support and better authentication. The app is free on both iOS and Android.

I think that you might also get a blowjob with each purchase. I'm not sure. Someone told me that but I'm still waiting for mine after picking up Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I'll keep you posted.

To my knowledge. It's the first time any Games on Demand games have been worth buying to me outside of drunken convenience at least.

Ha. I was actually finished with the cruise and in Seattle at the time of that post. And I only rage when it's warranted. LOL. It's hard to hate on a sale.

Microsoft has revealed the release dates and prices of its annual Summer of Arcade titles. The promotion kicks off next month with the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.

Still, it's just sad comparing this sale to what Sony is doing with PS+, and I don't even play my PS3 that much.

Sounds like you need to play your PS3 more. Problem solved! I'm glad I checked my gane libray because I was going to get BC but I already own it. LOL. Dark Void is definitely worth that price and I had a blast playing Conan. It's like a poor man's God of War. Definitely worth $5.

Side note: I also like how MS's weekly sale this week is just part of what Sony had last week...and continued this week with added shit. It's just the Sonic stuff. MS needs to take a tip from Sony's old PSP spokesman Marcus and "Step their game up."
