sidenote. i love my ps3 but i am not gonna pretend that this problem isnt a big one. you guys want to act like its gonna get resolved but its not. they can patch it and offer security protection all they want. but make no mistake, all the patches in the world can not stop the hackers from causing a shut down again.
twigg, what is amusing about you is you call me a 360 stroker or whatever, and defend the ps3 even though you have been exposed to credit card fraud and identity theft.
thats like saying you catch your best friend fucking your wife and then tell everyone what a great guy he is.....are you really that much of a fanboy of sony to not see what you have been exposed to?Comment

I wonder when the PSN is back up if the hacker community will try again full force to bring it down again....ugh it would interesting if they did but again it would suck.
Has Sony gone after these guys that have hacking into it? I imagine this is a pretty serious crime?Comment

I wish people (no offense Guido) would stop saying that PSN isn't free and is included in the price of the console. Does that mean that Microsoft charges you for online service when you purchase a 360, and still charges another fee on top of that?
If someone gives me a PS3 and I pay nothing for it, I can take that PS3 and play online....for FREE! The same cannot be said about the 360.
Sorry. Just tired of hearing that PSN isn't free. It IS!Comment

-CNet published an article last week saying that hackers were prepping to break into the PSN servers to deliberately steal personal and credit card info. Link
-Sony said they were working with the FBI to find the hackers that caused the current outage at the press conference a week ago, and they are considering offering a cash reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction. Link
Now, anyone who buys a PS3 solely for blu ray is dumb. At one point a few years ago, it may have been the best deal for a BR player, but today, you're better off buying a standard BR player if that's all you care about.Comment

wouldnt that include you?

whats laughable is you expecting some form of credibility when you cant even follow the path of the posts.
here, let me break down the irrelevant part since you cant follow along yoursel
Get it now? Sidenote, no i am not saying i understand what you said because i didnt waste the time to read it. I read some of your comments before and already know what your referring to. It doesnt gain any momentum by repeating it you know.
And saying your majoring in network engineering is like a janitor saying he majored in custodial arts. thats not an insult to you....its for the retards like twigg who think it sounds cool

To your 1st point, thats pretty much what i am saying. Sony can patch the issue and build a more secrure PSN to avoid the customer info being exposed. But what they cant do is stop the hackers from jailbreaking the system.
Mr Bill posted how MS basically is ignoring the people who use a modded 360 now by not allowing them to play games online. Sony should be able to follow that suit as well, but from what I read about the exposure issue is they might not even be able to stop that
to put it in lamens terms. Think of the PS3 as a lock to your house. its like giving someone the keys to your house. They break in using the keys. you put up barriers to stop the break ins but eventually they can get past the barriers. So you know the only way to stop the break ins is to install a new piece of hardware....that being a new lock.
Sony cant issue new hardware to all of its users. So they are fucked. They can add barriers via patch, but eventually they will be broken into again because the hackers have the keys to their house
in a manor of speaking, it seems like sony has torn down the house and is building a new one (PSN)...but like i said, from what i read it seems like the new house is being built around that old lock that must be replaced. And i dont see sony replacing millions of consoles.Comment

If you were an online only gamer, wouldn't you go for Live because of the quality of online gaming there vs PSN? I'm thinking that if I'm buying a console, games, controllers. That I wouldn't have an issue with whatever the fee is for Live (and I don't) if I were an online only gamer. The choice to go with PSN because it's free over Live because it's not seems far fetched.Comment

if they were in the US. but the laws of the US dont apply in other countries. im not sure how it would apply in this situation

2. Meh, idk about you but I see the console itself as the client. I'm pretty sure they can change "how far they can get into the house". The "lock" is the authentication/authorization method to get to the network, not the console itself.
From how you make it sound, every PS3 holds all of the customer's information..
P.S. I still fucking hate you for end-of-game Marino to Rice deep bombs in APF 2k8.* Chrispy logs into KGs account to see what misogi wrote* [05:53 PM]Comment

The answer is yes to all of the above.
-CNet published an article last week saying that hackers were prepping to break into the PSN servers to deliberately steal personal and credit card info. Link
-Sony said they were working with the FBI to find the hackers that caused the current outage, and they are considering offering a cash reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Blu ray is not overrated IMO. Superior picture and sound to DVD for most movies (debatable for some of the older titles). You're wasting your HDTV if all you do is watch DVDs or streamed video IMO. The quality between them isn't close.
Now, anyone who buys a PS3 solely for blu ray is dumb. At one point a few years ago, it may have been the best deal for a BR player, but today, you're better off buying a standard BR player if that's all you care about.Comment

I would hope a company like Sony would be one step ahead of the hackers now and build it so these clowns can't get in. If not, God help PSN (and us)Comment
