It is no big deal because this could have happened to anyone. nintendo, microsoft etc. Hackers are pretty much able to get into anything and everything they want for the most part. When the breach occurs Sony had to re-evaluate their platform and come up with the right changes so that this won't happen again. It isn't like this can happen overnight, they pretty much are changing a huge part of the network they built. Everyone can sit here and bitch and moan, cry about how they paid for PSN blah blah. 2-3 weeks of downtime because some assfuck hackers went in and compromised the system and Sony has to rebuild PSN doesn't bother me maybe because I am in the field of IT and understand better at what they are going through. I don't know what you people bitching want? Just reboot the shit they have and let people have your information? Rebuilding a secure infrastructure doesn't happen overnight. Once they have it built they need to test the whole system. How long do you expect them to test? Overnight? For fucks sake if you don't like it go buy an Xbox nobody really cares. At least I don't.
but for real I'm angry and want to do something about it.Comment

Misogi could be clean toilets at a computer repair store and still have more credibility and knowledge of the matter than you.
Now if this discussion was about adult diapers, retirement homes, Centrum Silver, early bird specials and the Hover 'Round, then yes, you would be much more qualified.Comment

Originally posted by GrifKnubb I never realized this until this thread, but the fanboyism is strong with ye.
On the real though nothing I said is fanboyish in the least bit. I have commented on the amount of bitching going on in here, but that was it. Most of you guys lack the patience for this situation to be handled so you whine and vent in here like a bunch of sissy boys.

twigg, what is amusing about you is you call me a 360 stroker or whatever, and defend the ps3 even though you have been exposed to credit card fraud and identity theft.
thats like saying you catch your best friend fucking your wife and then tell everyone what a great guy he is.....are you really that much of a fanboy of sony to not see what you have been exposed to?
The only thing I "defended" was Misogi's post when you basically assumed he was unqualified and didn't know wtf he was talking about. The only other thing that could've possibly been construed as "defensive" by a single minded guy like you is when I told all the 360 fanbots to not overlook when Live went down for a week back in 2007-2008. I even clarified that the only issues the two had in common was an outage. I merely said to the 360 Defense Force that it's not like Live has never had an outtage. And of ocurse they came out in full force and said "It was never completely out. It was just slow!" BULLSHIT. I can link article until; I'm blue in the face showing that it was in fact OUT but people like you will never agree anyway so who cares?
I also found it interesting that you overlooked what he said and directed your question at a few guys that mostly see eye to eye with your views. Interesting.Comment

wouldnt that include you?
sidenote. i love my ps3 but i am not gonna pretend that this problem isnt a big one. you guys want to act like its gonna get resolved but its not. they can patch it and offer security protection all they want. but make no mistake, all the patches in the world can not stop the hackers from causing a shut down again.

Guido, I wasn't praising hackers. I just understand that there are some serious nerds out there who can hack into almost anything they please. Of course I am pissed PSN is down and hopefully the FBI can trace who did this (prolly some 13 year old kid lolz) and they can go to jail.
Also blueray is nice. You just need newer titles and a big enough tv to feel the love.Comment

This is from the site that I've been getting my updates from and it doesn't sound good...
UPDATE: MAY 8, 2:22pm PST. “There will be a press release explaining the threats we received and also major development in the restructuring of the network. I did not read the release yet however word around the office is that sometime mid-week they will announce something significant.” She also goes on to stress that this is a multi-country situation. The time zones make it difficult to sync information and the hire ups are carefully choosing their words wisely to the public. “There is a lot of office chatter regarding someone from the inside, not outside intrusion started it all.”
WOW! This is the latest from her. I replied to her by asking what is this “office chatter” they are talking about. Waiting on the reply.

What have I defended? On the contrary. This thing is a clusterfuck of epic proportions. This issue is a HUGE one. I've said numerous times that identity theft is a fucking nightmare to deal with.

Microsoft was not prepared for that influx, and it showed. Also, I know that I was affected, but my connection was sporadic. There would be times during that week I would have access, and there would be times I didn't. I'm not an expert, but those are signs of an overloaded server.
Still, down is down, outage is outage. I would rather have it due to a spike in gamers than to hackers though.Comment
