I'm amazed at how deep the weapon crafting system is. And as disgusting as the microtransactions are, Pad is right, once you get to the middle of the game (ice planet) and have two scavenger bots the scrap parts start rolling in. It's really just a way to cheat if you don't want to invest the time I guess, like those Tiger Woods upgrades that instantly max out your golfer.

But yeah, I'm a big fan of the series and I think it's just as good as the previous games. In a lot of ways it may be the best in the series just do to length, addition of co-op and the new crafting system.

I still think it has great atmosphers and sound design and can be scary, even if the majority of scares are jump scares.

If anyone is wondering about the bot upgrades, I don't think they're worth it. From my experience, the bot's cooldown timer usually runs down before you get to another bench, and you don't have to worry about skipping a resource stash because you don't have a bot on hand. The only time I had a problem with this is when I loaded up my game, and all of the stashes that I got from the day before had respawned. So I figured I'd take a ten minute break in front of a bench to let my bots collect those additional resources.

So, Dizzle has been talking shit about how I exaggerated about how ridiculous this last co-op mission was. It was so frustrating I was close to quitting and never playing the co-op again. Here is a video (granted on a higher difficulty) just to give you an indication of how ridiculous this mission was.

Just a few comments on the video...

Nice playthrough, this part its extremely difficult if you're Carver, i will use the greneade launcher whit safety guard to clean the way in the alucinations in impossible :P

I ran in circles for like five deaths on the last set not realizing I had to destroy the marker. I killed at least 60-70 of those damn things each time before I ran out of health. Thanks. Gave a like for the help.

Finished this solo on Impossible difficulty in about 25 hours. For the first part of the game, scrap (especially tungsten) was pretty tough to get, but once I got on the ice planet, I didn't have any problems with that due to the large number of resource stashes you'll find. I had my RIG fully upgraded three quarters into the game. I had a hard time with ammo early on as well, and a lot of scrap went in that direction.

For the most part, this is very Dead Space 2-like in terms of combat and atmosphere: a lot of tight corridors, jump scares, poorly lit spaces, etc. The only thing that stuck out was the combat against humans because they have pretty bad AI.

I didn't do much weapon crafting, but as far as upgrading your weapons goes, I had my Evangelizer (assault rifle/shotgun combo) damage "maxed" out pretty early. I put maxed in quotations because, from what I understand, you can still add damage to weapons even after you max out the damage meter in the weapon stats screen.

Like I mentioned before, the story is pretty average with some really cheesy stuff mixed in. I'll just drop this story nugget here for when you guys beat the game (this will spoil plot points):

          I'M WARNING YOU!!!

          Dead Space = Mass Effect

*sigh* You only have yourself to blame.

There are also a ton of unlocks to get from suits to weapon parts to upgrade chips that depend on how many collectables you pick up or the game difficulty. I got a full set of +3 Damage chips for beating it on Impossible for instance. There's a suit for doing all of the co-op missions, etc.

I guess from here I'm going to do a Hardcore run by doing a chapter or two at a time and inch my way through the game. I'll also have to get someone to do the co-op missions with me to see how those are.

Overall, I really liked this game, and I'll probably put a lot more time into this game before I retire it with DS and DS2.

As for the upcoming Awakening DLC, I'm guessing you'll be playing as S.C.A.F. soldiers (probably Tim) based on the trophy requiring you to build a Mk-II weapon since you get Mk-V weapon parts from buying those resource packs and doing some challenges. Not much to base it off, but that's my guess.

Beat the game finally on Co-Op with Twigg on Normal.

The ending was to be expected...

I just need to do the co-op missions to 100% the collectables. Since you guys would know: is the co-op inventory shared? Meaning if I pick up a collectable, will my co-op partner get it added to his inventory as well? or is it a first come, first served deal?

Shared as far as collectibles are concerned. As far as anything else, items are "doubled" if you will. If I pick up ammo it will still be lying on the ground on your partner's screen.

The best part's getting a new chip to put into a gun and your co-op buddy has no room because they picked up everything on the floor in front of them.

Played the Prologue-Ch.4 tonight. Definitely enjoying it so far. I was a little timid coming in, but it seems they've done a good job in keeping the Dead Space atmosphere so far.

Was quite nerve racking getting rushed at by 3-4 Necromorphs while having a weapon that has a pretty slow fire rate. I was all like...

Not really, but it was intense lol.

Being in a giant room with that intense music playing that tells you an enemy is somewhere nearby, but having no idea where that enemy is and looking around franticly sure gets your heart rate pumping lol.

Guess I'll call it for the night. Just exited that building where you get the arctic survival suit in Ch. 9. Story is starting to drag a bit.

So I'm at the part where you're inside that big ass thing shooting the lymph nodes with the probe gun. Those little faggots that rush you are about to make me break some shit in my house. This is fucking frustrating.
