Oh shit this comes out in two weeks? I guess I should finally play the 2nd one. Sad thing is I bought it release day and didn't play past the 2nd chapter. Don't judge me.

Color me shocked. Considering he is a big fan of CoD his opinion doesn't mean much.

I just played the demo with Dizzle and fucking loved it. I was already excited for February 5th but now I might have a game boner from now until then.

Played the demo now as well for PS3.

The opener sequence looked flat but this is, again, a demo and they're just dropping us off at the Ticket Booth before we make our way to the actual Haunted House.

Graphically, everything is meant to either draw your attention front and center (or you'll die via awful mauling) or out in the background somewhere...

I'm assuming that giant frozen corpse you find before the last boss fight and demo completion is... an ancient necromorph?

Anything else is something to hide behind (cover system is butts going into the demo but at least it's better than nothing) or avoid.

Other than that, it's the same stuff we saw before when they were showing the game off (Spider Necromorph, Giant Faulty Drill fight, Big Monster at the end of the demo).

The addition of the Bench is cool with the ability to make your own guns to share and/or use later if you want.

I made an SMG with an electric tool on the bottom that arcs to multiple enemies so I'll try that out later...

I'd recommend trying the demo first if you need a refresher for the series or want to join in on the alien-zombie-monster stomping fun.

Dead Space 3 producer teases additional story content in 'a few weeks' time

The Dead Space 3 story may get extended through DLC released in a few weeks' time. That's what a hint by game producer Steve Papoutsis seems to suggest, anyway. Papoutsis closed off a blog post today with a vague drop of a "top secret additional story."

"As you can see, we have a lot planned for you in DS3," Papoutsis wrote. "And the team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks. We're not saying much, yet - but think 'disturbing' to get your imaginations going."

Papoutsis also revealed there are four modes unlocked by beating the game once, namely New Game+, Classic Mode, Pure Survival Mode, and the return of Hardcore Mode, albeit with a new twist. New Game+ is as it sounds, the mode carrying over your upgrades and weaponry from the completed save. Classic Mode is single-player only, removes crafting, and employs 'classic' aiming to resemble the original Dead Space. Whereas Pure Survival is all about resource management; enemies are the only things that drop any goodies, and there are no ammo, health or weapon packs.

Hardcore mode drops the three-saves-and-out of Dead Space 2, and replaces it with something that sounds far more evil. This time, you only have one life... yup, you read that right. And don't think it's something you can just avoid by going back to a previous save; as PlayStation Lifestyle details, once you die the game simply returns you to the start, end of. Evil. If we ever complete it, there better be a reward of free unlimited rainbows

Depending on when I get paid, I'll look into getting it sooner than later.

A trade-in or two may not hurt either.

I'll have it late afternoon on Tuesday. The real question is who wants to co-op Hardcore mode?

Dead Space has lost its ability to scare me. The first Dead Space made me shit my pants. The second one just made jump a few times here and there and just by playing the demo for the third one it has gotten very predictable. But it being Dead Space and all I'm still getting it for the sake of the story.

Dead Space 3 Has 11 Pieces of Day One DLC

Dead Space 3 will launch with 11 pieces of day one DLC available, offering services ranging from speeding up loot collection to new suits and weapons for Isaac.

According to Eurogamer, most of the purchasable upgrades tie into the game's crafting system, specifically the scavenger bots that you can use to salvage weapon parts and resources scattered around the game world. It's worth noting that these DLC bundles are separate from the micro-transactions in the game's weapon crafting system discovered last week.

Three packs were spotted on the US PlayStation store that'll allow you to soup-up your little helpers, each priced at $4.99. One will increase your bots' capacity, another will strengthen its personality and the final one will speed up its loot collection. Prices for Europe and Australasia haven't been unveiled yet.

Taking to the Dead Space blog, executive producer Steve Papoutsis explained the purpose of the scavenger bots, writing, "Everybody will find at least one of these bots in the game (and there a couple hidden ones to pick up, too.) The Scavenger Bot is an autonomous robot that can harvest resources for you and deliver them to the Tool Construction bench. Resources include stuff like somatic gel, scrap metal, tungsten - materials that you can use to craft into anything you want, like a health pack or weapon part.

"As a replacement for DS2’s credits, resources are a key part of the Dead Space 3 experience, and their placement in the game has been well thought out by our game designers. Whether by looting enemies, opening lockers, or exploring the world, you’ll find more than enough resources in-game to fully experience DS3 on any difficulty level.

"The scavenger bot's purpose is to give you an extra edge, since there's a bit of gameplay (and risk/reward) to using him and finding the richest resource caches. You can also choose to download upgrades to the scavenger bot that double his capacity or speed up his trips to the bench."

The other packs available include new weapons and suits for Isaac, as well as those included in special editions of the game. The cost for these varies between $0.99 and $4.99, with the latter being more common. Finally, as is becoming woefully commonplace these days, an online pass will be available for $9.99 so you can play online if you haven't bought a new copy of the game.
