It's on a military base. I wouldn't buy any next gen console if I lived in a country where it wasn't supported, even if I was on a base. So really, this doesn't surprise me, although apparently twiggs friends are infallible and mine aren't to be trusted.

"where it wasn't supported"? What do you mean? It's not region locked, right? So they still have access to most of the features it offers. They can still buy games for it, at the same Walmart if the choose. What am I missing?

Military personnel were buying up plenty of 360's last gen, Japan included. How is this any different?

I don't think the tv and app system works outside of the supported regions, I've read people on reddit in non supported countries are trying to find work arounds for it, so that leads me to believe the region free shit doesn't matter.

Yeah, like I said, MOST apps and features do work but some stuff definitely does not. I'm not sure about running your tv through it but Netflix works and a bunch of the other apps do too.

I know my british friends had to find some workaround to use Netflix and amazon video, as well as some other apps.

How is it "barely funtional"? All games play fine, online gaming is fine, Netflix, Hulu, etc work. What are you referring to? I'm guess you're not familiar with cheapassgamer.com or the CAGcast? CheapyD lives there and uses his Bone all the time. Most of his complaints are the same I have how his harmony remote works better for tv controls than the Xbox guide, voice control is spotty and the UI is cluttered.

Barely was maybe the wrong word, but if it's not 100% supported in that region and the other one is, I'd assume most would go for the other one. Apologies either way.

Still, I don't see the point of this, other than to try and pick a fight with those that support the Juan. It's an extremely small sample size and, so regardless of the location, completely irrelevant. That's just my opinion though, so I'll back away quietly now before this thing explodes into another 10 pages of insanity.
