With the extra rumble features, your controller should last about an hour before you'll have to change out the batteries.

I am thinking about attaching a power brick to it for extended gaming sessions.

In an interview with IGN, Microsoft Xbox One chief product officer Marc Whitten has confirmed that the Xbox One will still function with the Kinect unplugged.
Previously, the company said that Kinect must be always on with the Xbox one, an "essential and integrated part of the platform." IGN asks Whitten what would happen to the Xbox One if the Kinect were to malfunction, which he answers will be similar to how Xbox One handles online now.
"That said, like online, the console will still function if Kinect isn’t plugged in, although you won’t be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor," Whitten told IGN.
Whitten does explain that the Xbox One is designed to operate with the Kinect plugged in. With the sensor connected, players will be able to wake the console up with the "Xbox On" command along with other voice controls. Earlier today, Major Nelson and Zulfi Alam discussed features of the Xbox One controller, which includes an infrared LED to allow the Kinect to load profiles based on who is holding the controller. With the Kinect unplugged, players will lose some of Xbox One's functionality.
In regards to turning off the Kinect sensor, Whitten confirms that players will be able to turn it completely off. In this setting, Kinect won't collect any information including voice, video, and gestures. When a player tries to load up a Kinect required game like Kinect Sports Rivals, the system will prompt the user to turn the Kinect on to continue playing.
Assuming we can take Marc Whitten's answer at full value, it looks like this is yet another reversal for the Xbox One. Does this change your view on the Xbox One?

The controller will work with PCs without any other attachment required

Have to wait for them to write the code for it though.

So now the Kinect is even more pointless than it already was gonna be. I mean, hey, cool, it's not mandatory. Awesome. But still forced to pay for it, sooooooo........still a waste.

You're right, I use my xbox every day for the most part, often times twice a day. If this gen lasts even 7 years, it will probably be closer to 3000.

Hahaha ok. This console shit ain't that serious. You're were right tho. Have fun rubbing it in that youre telling your xbone to turn on and off.

Leave the real game playing for the adults.

They confirmed it could be turned off months ago. First time hearing it can be unplugged also.

I really like some of the Kinect commands, the slight movement of your fingers or hand gestures to go back and forth between TV and gaming is pretty sweet.
