I gotta part with you on this one, W2B... if it had been a fumble or a few dropped passes that cost that game, I could see it, but the interception coupled with the complete fail in the redzone to follow it up, I'm sorry. I wont say Manning choked by any means, they're all entitled to bad games, but Joe Montana wins that game.
Montana had already established himself by the time that team became the Juggernaut that it did. You cannot tell me the '81 'Niners were more talented than the '09 Colts. Their number 1 WR would be lucky to be a long snapper today.Last edited by adembroski; 02-08-2010, 11:21 PM.S.P.Q.A.

[quote=Len B;1074662]
As long as the ball is in his hands when the game is on the line and he fucks up, there's no difference. Had Manning thrown for 400 yards, 3 TD's, 0 picks and his team lost 35-34, it'd be a different story. If you are going to be the best of all-time when the game is on the line, you better pull a Joe Montana and hit your best WR in stride for the game winning TD.
Throwing an awful interception that gets read like a book isn't an option. His 28 TD/19 interceptions in the playoffs don't hold up to Montana's 45/21.Comment

Everyone keep talking about post season success with these QB's, but I haven't seen (may have missed it) any post about the actual records.

Conclusion: There are good QB's, and there are great QB's, and then you have Peyton Manning. He's one of the 10 best football players ever, appreciate the fact you get to watch him.
Nice. Strong argument.Last edited by Warner2BruceTD; 02-09-2010, 06:20 PM.Comment

Since I don't feel like reading through 40 pages of shit, who exactly is claiming Peyton Manning is the GOAT, besides W2B and Liq? This is the first I've heard of it, but then again, I do try to avoid Sportscenter, where I'm sure this shit all started in the first place... Let me guess, they jumped off the bandwagon now that Manning lost last night, right?

And I still beg to differ. If had to choose a quarterback to go out and win me a superbowl and I had my pick of any quarterback in history, I would take Montana every time. Montana won without Rice, something people seem to forget. He also won in KC, leading them to two postseason appearances, and AFC Championship game and beating a powrhouse 49ers team and a very, very good Elway led Broncos team in '94. Check out how he did head-to-head against other top QBs of the era, he dominated Marino and Elway in their Superbowl matchups and posted a 2-1 record against Marino, 3-3 against Elway, and 1-0 against Young.Comment

All right, if Brett Favre isn't the GOAT, then his stats are lies, I guess.
Records he holds:
-Passing Attempts (career)
-Passes Completed (career)
-Passing Yards (career)
-Seasons with 3,000+ passing yards
-Games with 300+ passing yards (2nd all time)(career)
-Longest Pass (tied with others)
-Most seasons leading league in touchdowns (tied with others)
-Most consecutive seasons leading league in touchdowns (2nd)
-Most TD passes (career)
-Games with 4+ TD passes (2nd)(career)
-Games with 4+ TD passes (2nd)(season)
-Consecutive games with a TD pass (2nd)
-Interceptions thrown (career)
-Most consecutive games started (QB)
Pretty damn good if you ask me
That's why he's not GOAT.Comment
