LOL at Mr Bill saying the pass should have been thrown harder up the seem and Rosetta complaing because the ball was thrown too hard.
How does Welker get killed? You aren't allowed to hit a defenseless receiver with a kill shot when they are going for the ball. You make the throw and it's either a TD or your WR takes a hard hit and either drops or holds on to the ball. Either way, it's football.

Both Rodgers and Brees would cut off their left nut to trade places with Eli this morning.

Correct. And the narrative all year has been "is he elite?" To start the season, many argued that he was in the Tony Romo stratosphere. Even towards the middle and end of the season, there was still much national (and VSN) debate over his ranking among his contemporaries. Now we're comparing him with the all-time greats?

How did we get from "is he even an elite player in today's game?" to "he is definitely an all-timer, brb let me start sculpting his bust for Canton" in a few months?

Or Phillips jumps the route since he's looking directly into the ackfield at Brady as your picture shows and picks off the pass.

            Riskier throw.

            Brady made the right throw.

            Quit being stupid.

There's a reason yahoo sports had Welker portrayed as being depressed after the game. Even he knew he fucked it all up.

Whoever said he is best in NFL History needs to off themselves.
Larry wanted him in Canton after 1 SB win.

People are putting him in Canton now after his first truly great season of his career.

It's fun to be able to point to one play and act like that won or lost the game...fact is, there were plenty of shots that just didn't happen, for both teams. That's the way the game is. Who's to say Brady wouldn't have been sacked and fumbled the play after Welker makes that catch?

You can talk about "shoulda-woulda-coulda" as much as you want. To me, that's a waste of time, but hey, whatever floats your boat. The main question for the Patriots was their defense, and that defense could not come up with a big play all game.

Outside of that 16-completion streak surrounding halftime, Brady was 11-25. The Patriots offense couldn't make any big plays either, and that Giants were able to get a couple. There's your difference.

That's why I bring up the final drive. Not to discredit Eli. To add perspective to this stupid, retarded narrative we have in pro football of rings automatically equaling greatness.

-The Pats came up short, so Eli "did what he had to do to win", and now has his second ring, so PUT HIM IN CANTON!

-If the Pats score, Eli "came up short and didn't quite do enough", and is still on the outside looking in, because, well, he only has one ring and his numbers aren't that great.

Yet in both instances, HIS PERFORMANCE WAS EXACTLY THE SAME! NOTHING CHANGED!

And you guys don't find that mental?! Team wins or losses, in this case, THE PERFROMANCE IS IDENTICAL!

This is why I say, if you hadn't made up your mind by the end of the GIANTS final drive, then you are a goofball consumed by rings, and nothing else. And yes, that makes you lazy in your analysis.

And i'm still waiting for somebody to do this:

                    Nobody has, because you can't.

If it's all about Super Bowls for you, without context, then just admit that it's all about the rings, so the rest of us can disregard your shallow opinions from now on.
I'm going to say this out of love, because we love one another.

You're a fucking idiot and could possibly be illiterate, you Dexter Manley reading level son of a bitch.

No one said its JUST ABOUT DA RINGZ...it has simply been said that DA RINGZ, for a quarterback are the biggest and most important criteria for judging a quarterback among his peers and across generations/eras...if you don't think its not the biggest and most important bullet point, you have no concept of history or of the story the game tells or what greatness truly comprises...you're simply a fruit pop stat nerd that attempts to quantify greatness numerically because you have no idea what the fuck you are watching in the first place.

His numbers will be at an All-Time level once his career finishes it out...he'll have at least two Super Bowl rings...he'll be considered of the best at his position over his career and will several times be considered of the best at his position on a yearly basis. He'll probably be a 4+ time Pro Bowler. He and Ben Roethlisberger will basically have the same resume to enter Canton.

But then again, who are you to doubt Eli Dandy?

I agree it was the best season of Eli's career, and he still didn't sniff an MVP or come close to being the best QB in the league (let alone the best player in the league), nor did he lead the league in any statistical category.

Hall of Fame players dominate their position, lead the league in things aside from interceptions, win MVP's, and don't need to win Super Bowls to cement legacies.

Eli has never dominated his position, led the league in anything, or won an MVP. He's had one year where you can make a realistic argument he is among the Top 5 QB's in the league, let alone the best. Take away two SB wins, and this thread doesn't exist, WHICH IS THE POINT I'VE BEEN MAKING ALL ALONG.

Brady didn't hit him in the hands... Welker made a fantastic adjustment to get his hands on the ball. There is a difference.

Point being - we can jump rope with this topic all day and get nowhere, when the fact of the matter is this game came down to a lot more than just good quarterback play.

To throw Eli in the Hall of Fame after last night is a bit premature considering he played his role to win the game and nothing more, as did a lot of other Giants (as they did in 2007 as well, yet none of them are being looked at as HOF worthy today).

I'm just tired of the quarterback being put on the pedostal all the time. Manning had a good night, good for him. So did a lot of other two-time SB champion Giants.

Anyone want a laugh? Search the forum for "Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl" and read all the knob-slobbing over reactions that were happening this time a year ago.

Rodgers was the best QB to ever live according to all posts from February 2011. And now Eli is a HOFer. Gotta love the post Super Bowl hype train.
