Its not arrogant at all, its a business. If you think any executive would hire someone with tons of tats and piercings over someone clean cut and respectable looking, especially for a position thats seen by the public or other companies, youre fooling yourself. And, bottom line, sports are a business. The Yankees have been doing it for years (look at Giambi and Damon). When you take a guy, especially a QB, 1st overall, its not just to be a great player, its to be the face of your franchise. This is especially true for teams that dont have a huge fanbase and that are relatively new. If anything, things like this should be expected and certainly not shocking.

I'm not sure how to take this because most NBA players have tones of tattoos and they generally are the most marketable athletes in sports. For instance, LeBron James if full of them.

In the end I can understand what Richardson is saying, but athletes and entertainers are held to different standards from business people. Obviously, I couldn't walk into an interview with tattoos on my neck (although a friend of mine does and he's had no problem finding work in corporate America), but athletes and entertainers who win/ are successful and or marketable tend to get away with it. The reason Chris Johnson and Edgerrin James are less marketable is because while being elite athletes they lack communication/interview skills ......thus making them less marketable. The both of them are the types of athletes that tend to do their work and go home......they don't say much and stay out of the limelight. I would say the both of them are sort of recluse.
