Anyways sounds like the Bills are going after Shanahan. They were flying out to meet him today or tomorrow. Although I have to find a source for this still.

His team wasn't very good? In 9 games, he had 5 wins. In the final 7 games without him, they had 1 win, finishing the season 6-10. He was playing very good and dependable ball after coming off of an injury plagued set of seasons and threw for a little over 200 yards a game with a 62% completion percentage and helped his team get 5 times as many wins as his replacement got in the same year.

The only reason he was benched was because the NYG wanted to go to Manning. He was playing solid ball in his first year in the system.

It's simple - That scheme was staying longer than Kurt Warner, so Warner wasn't allowed to run the offensive scheme he was used to. While in NY, Kurt Warner posted game ratings of - 97, 104, 92, 89, 92, 109. He did that with health issues, and a scheme fit for another quarterback. Arizona did the opposite, they designed their scheme around Kurt Warner, and got off that whole ''we need a run game to win,'' because with Kurt Warner, the running game should always come second. While it does help, Kurt Warner can carry a team without it.

The whole NY thing was a one and done deal to begin with, so I really don't get the argument.. If anything, use his failed years in St. Louis.

Look dude, I know you're just trying to make a point, but, Dilfer was on a defensive, run first team, not a pass happy team. Warner, now with two different teams, has been asked to CARRY the offensive load and he has been very successful. If you're going to make a comparison like this, choose a different QB. One that is also on a pass happy team. A QB that is being asked to help carry the offensive load.

Please, for the love of god, don't use Dilfer and think you are making some kind of valid point.

And I thought it was to dispute Warner being a very good QB. Maybe I misunderstood that part. My thing was, if you're going to try and dispute how good Warner is, use a QB that plays a similar style.

Your original quote was completely fucking useless. You used NY as the one example against Kurt Warner, when Kurt Warner was brought in to help prepare Manning to take over. It was a one and done deal.. He still posted an above .500 record, and several good quarterback ratings with NY.

Kurt Warner is one of the most dominant quarterbacks in NFL history. Period.

Warner makes Fitz/Boldin look better by being able to force great passes to them even when they've run sloppy routes or are being double-covered.

Fitz/Boldin make Warner look better by saving inaccurate throws or breaking a tackle and running for 40 yards when it was just a 6 yards pass for a 1st down.

Great WRs and QB both benefit from the other, that's what makes them both so good.

If Warner was throwing to Ginn and Heyward-Bey (sp?), no matter the offensive scheme, Warner would hardly reach 250 yards a game.

Same goes for Fitz/Boldin if they had noodle arm throwing them the long ball.

If Chicago hired Shanahan, itr would be wierd to see them change into an offensive juggernaut and a defensive liability. When I think of Chicago I generally think of stout defense regardless of this year, and that would never happen under Shanahan.

That's fine, just because that's the way the Bears played in the '60s doesn't mean they always have to.

There are meatheads in Chicago who want to cling to the DEFENSE, RUN THE BALL, BEAR WEATHER, BUTKUS crap. Honestly, I'd probably be more of a fan if they actually starting playing some offense... so I would welcome the change.

I'm not sure the weather and that field will ever produce an offensive juggernaut, but I think getting Shanahan is the only thing that could save Cutler's career. Shanahan did a great job of masking Cutler's inability to read a defense and go through his progressions.

We did a quick thing on my show where we looked up some of the average weather/wind/snow/temps at other stadiums across the league and the Bears was not significantly different than that of New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Buffalo among others. All of those are examples of teams that are pretty damn good offensively despite some less than stellar winter weather.

Let's not completely overreact now. Ron Turner sucks, and is garbage. But if your waking up and all of a sudden noticing Jay Cutler is turning the ball over, you haven't followed the NFL the last few years.

I am all of a sudden noticing Jay Cutler is perhaps the worst starting QB in the league that isn't starting because the normal QB got hurt. I don't remember Cutler being this awful in Denver....perhaps its Ron Turner? Kyle Orton seems to be doing fine without Ron Turner, too.
