Brady played a better game than Eli. When it comes down to it, if Welker makes that catch and Manningham doesn't make his incredible grab, this thread doesn't exist.

And Flacco played a better game than Brady, and when it comes down to it, if Evans had made that catch this thread might not exist.

It has become increasingly evident that all it takes is for your team to win as a QB and you will be immortal (that being said, I do think Eli deserved to be MVP, I just thought that the game in general was pretty "meh").

It's a bit of a leap to assume Eli will reach both sets of criteria in every season for the next five years, given that he's done both in the same year precisely once in his career (2010).

Three total 4000 yard passing seasons out of 9 tries, and one 30 TD season (29 this season). Yep, let's pencil in him to match his career highs every season for the next five, since that's totally how athletes progress. As soon as they reach their peak, they stay there for the foreseeable future.

Do you know what the difference is between career averages and career highs?

Eli has to hit his career AVERAGES over the next 3 seasons to be in the top 15 of all major passing categories.

Averages. Not highs.

For such an inaccruate pass Welker sure seemed to have a really damn good chance at making the play.

Again, you don't stop Welker on that route. You don't trya nd throw back underneath WR running up the field with two defenders back underneath the ball when they are looking at the QB reading the pass.

The read and area Brady threw to was fine. It wasn't the most accurate pass ever thrown, but was still plenty accurate enough and should have been caught.

Right read. Right throw(although not perfectly thrown) should have been caught. By far more Welker's fault than Brady. You're just trying to stick up for the short guy.

This is what Patriots fans had to go through after 2003. Thankfully Brady sealed his legacy after that, which I'm sure Eli will do.

I'm just :lol: at how Eli had a great game scoring essentially 18 points vs. the Patriots defense and brady had a bad one scoring 17 without Gronk and vs. the Giants great pass rush.

Both QB's had great games.

Correct. The throw to Gronk vs. Baltimore was a definition of a bad throw, he didn't give his WR a chance to catch it.

This one was catch able, easily. All these people on couches can say it was a tough catch, but Welker knows he makes that catch 95 out of 100 times.

I know who they are. My point is nobody else does, which means their play is less scrutinized vs a QB, especially in the SB. Do you think they were under as much pressure as Manning to perform?

Luckily for Eli, there are plenty of HOFers who were never considered the GOAT at any point in their career...

Their play might be less scrutinized, but only because it's not as "sexy" as playing quarterback. Remember, we're talking about the media here.

To think David Diehl didn't have any pressure on him during the final drive or Aaron Ross wasn't a little nervous on the hail mary play (just pointing to one example, but throughout the game as well) is foolish in my opinion. Every single player on the field for the final few minutes of the game was feeling pretty intense pressure I'd imagine.
