How could anyone say that wasnt a bad throw by Brady to Welker? He had a guy WIDE OPEN and Welker has to dive, turn his body and strecth out to make a catch, come on son

I get the viewpoint that Welker SHOULD have made the catch because it hits him in the hands but people thinking Brady made a great throw there need to get a grip. That ball was high and to the outside and Welker had to spin and reach to even get his hands on it. A good throw by Brady there and Welker likely scores the game clinching TD.

I never said it was a great throw. I just said it wasn't a "poor throw".

Brady can't lead him inside because of the safety help.

He has to throw the ball back shoulder to the sideline as that's the open area.

If Brady leads Welker up the field he gets Welker killed or possibly throws a pick.

It's a completely different throw on a different route into double coverage look rather than having to drop it in around 3 defenders.

The best throw and area to put the ball in on a throw like that given the route and the coverage is away from the safety in the middle of the field coming over and over the top of the outside corner...which is where Brady put the ball. It was the right throw, a tough catch(that wasn't made), but the throw was to the area of the field it should have been. The throw was fine.

It's like I said at the start of the thread, if you were waiting to see how the Patriots final drive turned out in order to form your HOF opinion of Eli, then I have a major gripe with that. That's why I bring up the final drive. Not to discredit Eli. To add perspective to this stupid, retarded narrative we have in pro football of rings automatically equaling greatness.

-The Pats came up short, so Eli "did what he had to do to win", and now has his second ring, so PUT HIM IN CANTON!

-If the Pats score, Eli "came up short and didn't quite do enough", and is still on the outside looking in, because, well, he only has one ring and his numbers aren't that great.

Yet in both instances, HIS PERFORMANCE WAS EXACTLY THE SAME! NOTHING CHANGED!

And you guys don't find that mental?! Team wins or losses, in this case, THE PERFROMANCE IS IDENTICAL!

This is why I say, if you hadn't made up your mind by the end of the GIANTS final drive, then you are a goofball consumed by rings, and nothing else. And yes, that makes you lazy in your analysis.

Make a convincing argument for Eli's HOF candidacy without using the words "Super Bowl" or "rings".

I bet you can't. Because you would need phrases like "he led the league in this x amount of times", or "he was the best at this", or "he was an elite level player at his position for x amount of time", etc, to do that and it's hard to apply those phrases to Eli Manning.

To me, unless a guy has legendary Super Bowl performances (plural) you should be able to craft a credible HOF argument for a player without even talking about the Super Bowl. You can't do that with Eli, his entire legacy is based on the result of two games, in which he was pretty good, but not even dominant!

That's what I find ridiculous about QB assessment, but it's never going to change.

Nobody has, because you can't.

If it's all about Super Bowls for you, without context, then just admit that it's all about the rings, so the rest of us can disregard your shallow opinions from now on.

If Brady had thrown a rope and hit Welker in stride there is no way it would not have been a TD. The safety was not able to close until Welker had to stop running and spin to try and catch the ball.
