I literally know nothing.
Playing god awful defense really cost them.
Germany will advance to the quarter-finals if:
- They do not lose to Denmark by at least 2 goals or 0–1 or 1–2 OR
- Portugal do not defeat the Netherlands
- They defeat the Netherlands and Denmark do not defeat Germany by at least 2 goals, 1–0 or 2–1 OR
- They draw with the Netherlands and Germany do not lose to Denmark OR
- They lose to the Netherlands by 1 goal and Germany defeat Denmark.
- they defeat Germany OR
- they draw with Germany and the Netherlands defeat Portugal.
- they defeat Portugal by at least 2 goals and Germany defeat Denmark
Tie-breaking criteria
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:

So much wrong with the Dutch lineup IMO. Jetro is still too young, Iffaley(sp) not good enough with whats on the bench, and De Jong Van Bommel cant play together where strootman can do all the defensive things they do but has a bit more explosiveness when needed. They looked like shit all game.
If Netherlands beats Portugal, and Germany beat Denmark then Denmark, Portugal, and Netherlands all have 3 points. Portugal beat Denmark, but Denmark beat Netherlands, and Netherlands beat Portugal. See the confusion with using head to head? GD comes in to play in this scenario, and my previous post outlines exactly what needs to happen for each team.

So, just as I said.. the tie breaker is NOT really h2h..
It is with a two-way tie, if you were arguing about this specific scenario than I misunderstood. But I thought it was obvious that in this scenario that h2h literally just wouldn't work so of course you use GD.
Higher number of points in matches with the teams in question is a confusing way to say h2h.. if Netherlands beats Portugal they both have the same number of points however Netherlands would have 3 pts vs Portugal and moves on.. not that confusing bros.. lol boss

That second goal from Denmark, against Portugal, made a big difference in the GD tie-breaker. Otherwise Netherlands would probably have no shot to advance since they would need to win and have a margin of victory of 3 goals. That's why even if you do lose...every goal is important cause you never know when it will come down to goal differential.
