Madden 12 Impressions Thread

Twigg.....sigh. You have been playing madden/ncaa for years...cmon. First of all I am pretty sure you dont play enough to be really good at passing. You said the same thing in NCAA.

2nd....every year the games comes out and the first week everyone complains the pass defense is too tough. Come back in a month and the scores in a 5 min game are 50-40. It is AI....after your play 20-30-40 games you figure it out.....just like every year this game comes out.

1 last point....I would rather it be pretty tough to pass rather than have my defense non existent. People will always find ways to score.....much harder to find ways to stop them.

I had no problems passing the ball the past several years. I actually had a ridiculous problem running the ball. Since 09 actually. But it was because EA made the Bears offensive line way too terrible. Yes I know they weren't good but Forte still averaged over 4.0 yards per carry. I fucking shit you not I'd be lucky if he averaged 2.5 for me. As soon as I'd get the ball my lineman would completely whiff and I'd get crushed in the backfield. It was a joke. It was only this year that it seems they adopted the logic that has been in NCAA the past few years with these super human defensive players. It's amazing how these players automatically react as soon as you press the pass button. I've watched replay after replay and they won't even be looking at the ball. As soon as it's thrown they snap back and make a perfect break for the ball to either knock it down or intercept it. Forget trying to make any medium to long passes.

I'll be able to see some more when I start my regular season today. It's hard to give real impression when Enderle and Hanie are playing most of your game.

I wish I could find my video from last night. So do they not upload to easports.com anymore? I noticed when you go to your videos and check the pull down tab the latest game even available is NCAA 12.

How do you get a highlight saved? I didnt' see it in the menu I didn't look for long but there is one play that I wanted to save. I'm going to guess that you have to save the replay first? Never had to before though

NEVERMIND.. its in the menu now with stats.. It wasn't there when I was playing a game but is there now in a CPU vs CPU game.

I've noticed audiop issues too. Not only is the sound way muted from last year (no surprise considering NCAA is as well) but I've actually had my right front speaker pop a few times. They need to fix that shit before it fucks up my speaker.

Tweak the sliders a little bit so you aren't stressing out about it. It sounds like you are playing offline, hopefully not AM default. Somebody has to have some good sliders around the net.

Playing on All Pro. I would hate to tweak sliders because I try to play on default but I might have to. The way the defense reads your mind and reacts is ridiculous.

Playing on All Pro. I would hate to tweak sliders because I try to play on default but I might have to. The way the defense reads your mind and reacts is ridiculous.

That is what I am having. It pops then gets quiet, then progressively gets louder until its back to normal.


I've had pauses in game too, one was during a kick and the ball just paused midway during the snap (maybe .5 seconds)


By the way, I suck at the game but I haven't seen anything that will piss me off (as a casual gamer)........ yet.

Okay, there is one thing so far. I hate how when the 2 minute warning comes up, the game cuts off whatever it was doing.

I was pretty sure the PS3 version was damn close to the 360 version in sales last year? Correct me if I'm wrong? Now I know this isn't a scientific field to base anything on but two things I've noticed so far.
Madden 12 doesn't even show up on the Top 10 games over at Gamefaqs for PS3. Yes, I know that PS3 has way more exclusives and they take up the Top 10 but still. The game just came out today and usually it's somewhere in the Top 10, at least for a week. It is like #4 on the 360 boards.
When I was picking up my copy at BB last night I would say there were probably 75 people there? If I were to guess I would say 10 people picked the game up for PS3. I even commented to the guy standing behind me "Am I the only one getting it for PS3?" and he said "You need to switch systems man" Moron. But then I told him I have 360 and I'm on my sixth one and still on my first PS3 and even the guy in front of me, who was getting it for 360, shook his head and said "Tell em about it." But all that aside the 360 versions were selling overwhelmingly more on 360 at least at my store.

It did that last year. Really dumb.

I am completely baffled about the audio this year in both NCAA and Madden. The audio in both games was remarkably better last year.

The most annoying thing so far, is that fucking player information bar that pops up for each player and scrolls with you when you're ordering the dept chart or browsing your roster. And the attributes key is at the top of the page, and not directly over the player ratings. It's pretty annoying.

Also I've seen a few glitches already in my first day. Some letters I've noticed are missing in the "tips" that they give you before each game.

Twice now I thought the game froze also. One time my whole screen went black while loading up the playbooks.

I think the stat overlay is pretty dumb too. It doesn't it show attempts and YPC for RB's? It just says yard and how many TD's. Also it doesn't show pass attempts by the QB?

This drives me crazy, knowing the 360 version is the far superior version with a much better online service, yet I am likely picking up the inferior ps3 version because most of the online guys are on the ps3.

playbooks seem to be the anti madden. in ncaa it was a common source for freeze ups until EA patched it. that patch came out pretty quick

its not like you cant find games on the 360. I can understand if your part of a league...but it not i dont know why anyone would get the crappy version

Most of the field gets covered with this when shadows come in. This was at Giants stadium. You can see it on the field during the tackle . Its much more defined and obvious (plus darker) in person.

Its not that bad in the video but it stands out in person.

So here I am sitting with the ps3 and 360 versions.

Going back and forth with them using pats at home vs jets

The field looks a lot better on the 360, the grass on the sides of the filed and in the corners of the endzone look horrible on ps3. Looks like puddles of oil and on 360 it looks very nice

When selecting a play from gameflow the transition between pressing button to game has a slight hitch on the ps3

The ps3 version colors are a bit washed out and are lush on the 360


The ps3 does not suffer from the qb throw glitch like 360
