Mass Effect 2 Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

About six hours in so far, still working on getting my squad together. Very disappointed in the adept so far though. Think I'm re-rolling as a soldier or sentinel next time, as they seem to be the two strongest from what I've read.

Still working on getting Jacob to give me the D.

I've never played the 1st mass effect. Will I be confused if i skip it and just play this one?

1st one deserves to be played!

you'd understand what's going on in the 2nd one on a much deeper level and enjoy it much more if you knew the whole story.

however you could probably get away with it just fine if you're just looking to kill shit and simply "beat the game"

i can see doing that if its a 2nd or 3rd play thru cause u know whats going on already and probably skip most if not all side quests.

i just hope ME2 gives me 40-50 hrs in my first play thru

bud, i am in the same boat as you, but i chose to play the first game before getting me2. Best 20 bucks you could ever spend. totally worth 60, but now since its over 2 years old you can pick it up cheap

Maynard, I'm gonna guess you can get 40 to 50. Especially if you break this "I hate replaying games" thing that you have haha. Like I said, I was 25, and I just blew through the last part because I couldn't wait anymore.

lol....seriously, i am still playing me1 and reached 40 hrs played last night. Then i see someone had did a run thru in 14 hrs i was like WTF

i also read this game is longer then me1.

It's 2 discs. So yeah, probably longer.

What was your final level, Seth? I'm at 9 now, I think. I'm an Infiltrator. The sneaky soldier/sniper hybrid. I'm digging it. I just got Jack and am raping planets. If you spent your time doing all the scans and going to all the planets, you could easily get 100 hours.

I liked being able to customize my weapons in ME1. The "universal gun" is a little weird for me, and I don't like not being able to change armor on the fly.

The camera is a little too close "over the shoulder" for me. That really bugs me, is there a way to change it?

Inflitrator + Flamethrower = beast, nothing like turning invisible, running up on a boss, and toastin their ass with a flamethrower that all but ignores the fact that they have on any type of barrier

Believe I finished it at around 20? You get an extra 5 levels I believe if you start a second run through.

It's such a good game. I really don't mind the armor or upgrade things, personally. Don't know why as I am a huge RPG geek, but it didn't bother me.

Damn I'm at 12+ and still only have two loyalty missions done.

Not a game breaker or anything, but it does get tiring after recruiting nine members for your team and then having to turn around and do nine more quests to gain their loyalty. Kind of a pain, but still an amazing game.

Adept is getting better now that I'm at level 15, a lot more fun. And I have all three of my "love interests" going at the same time, this could get ugly.

I think it's great, makes the plot develop much better. I love BioWare.

yeah the odd planet here or there will have it. i've also found it while doing missions on planets randomly hidden in places.

most planets seem to have a mix of iridium/platinum/palladium and then you'll find a place with all element zero. though i've found all 4 on the same planet before too, that seems to be the trend i'm seeing.

almost done with ME1. Last night i finished up the resource and tags side quests. i have 2 BS side quests open, but i see no motive to completeing them. No achievement for 100% and i already got the one for completing most of the game.

i remember all the controversy surrounding the sex scene in this game. i didnt even get a semi from that. i at least wanted to see a space boobie

Finally finished it, completed almost all of the side quests. Gonna take a break from it and run through it again.

 

Two people die at the end, and it really pissed me off who they are
