Am I missing something or has the plot been sucked out of ME2? After you get Archangel and the doctor they don't tell you anything about any of the other characters you're suppose to recruit after that. I would like to have some sort of backdrop on who Im after, who they are, where they are, and why I want to recruit them. Instead Im forced to browse around the galaxy map looking for planets that say recruit. What made ME1 so great was how good the story was, it flowed very well and was very involving. Now it feels like the story has just been cut out of the game, at least as far as this recruiting goes.

Uh... I got 4 dossier's to begin, then after I got all those I believe I got another 4. No real searching involved, just going to the planet it says.

Hmmm weird man. It will be in your journal section, but you shouldn't even have to go there. If you hit a Mass Effect relay the overview of the galaxy will show you what systems to go to for each recruit. Pretty easy.

Story driven Sci-Fi RPG. One of those games with different outcomes based on the decisions you make throughout the game.

i dont know about me2, but me1 is basically about you playing the role of a human trying to gain respect for humans in order to gain acceptance. in the process u track down a bad guy who is trying to be in control of the galaxy. it involves political, diplomatic and war type choices. think star wars and star trek as far as how the galaxy is put together. along the way u develop relationships with all sorts of species thru massive amounts of dialog. the dialog and choices u make drive the story.

the dialog is excellent and tells the story of each person u meet and is done in such a way to where u fall deep into the story. i really love the story and i think that is what makes or breaks the game for people.

the battle system is pretty cool and i really enjoy the fighting aspects of the game. But even more then that is choosing the dialog for your guy to have things play out a certain way. The choices either provide you with paragon (good karma) or renegade (bad karma)....depending on which side u choose to be will determine certain side quests that open up and how certain quests play out...not all, but some will be effected by your karma.

you can choose how much you want to learn about each race of people you come across and learn about political things as well as technology and history.

the game is extremely deep and has a great balance of all these aspect. I cant tell you how much i recommend playing this game now. 2 years after its release and it looks just as great as any game today. i have put in 50 hours now and i am not done yet....i am almost done and figure i will have 55 hours when i am done with my first play thru.

i said it before, but you can get this for $20 now and the value you get for that 20 is amazing. Its worth 60 bucks today....for 20 its a steal

That felt a little rushed.

Get the IFF, do some other mission to give them time to get it up and running, then do the Joker mission. And then you are already on the final assault.

Hmm, think they could've spaced that out a little more, maybe a few more missions in between.

And damn, this ship is freaky now with all the crew gone.

I could probably go back to some other planets and search around for some more side quests, but I just finished all the side quests I had picked up along the way. At 26 hours played and my only mission right now is the final assault.

I haven't upgraded a single thing yet, so I think I need to go start scanning some planets.

little surprised that saren killed himself.

I looked at killgods spoiler a few pages back about them not believing the reapers exist. With that in mind i dont want to save them....but that not being a factor my first thought is i should save them...son of a bitch ass bastard

saren wasnt dead. But i thought about the council and decided to let them die. in that situation you would need to focus all fire power on sovereign and couldnt spare the fleet for the council. So i axed them

EPIC game :SHOCKED:....the ending was amazing. This game just built up and built up the story as you played and the ending was like a massive climax to the story.

i did save right before the end so i am thinking i will go back and replay that last part and and do the opposite of what i did in the spoiler. then have it saved both ways to import into ME2

question about the career import. after the game ended it didnt make a final save or anything of my career. The last save was done right before i finished off saren.

so if i replay the ending with a different choice, it would still apply to this career when importing to ME2....right?

in order for me to get the chance for a different choice at the end, i would have to have to start a new career from the beginning.....right?

can i start a new career game with my current player stats? or is that just gonna be a continuation of my current career?

edit, well i started a new career with my current player, but it was all part of the same series of saves. So it looks like i am only going to have this one career with my current choices, or i start a brand new career from the beginning. thats kind of stupid because if i play a 2nd run with my current player career, then its going to overwrite all the choice i made the first play thru.

any feedback or help with this would be great...thanks

First playthru in the books, ZOMG!? Recap/thoughts below in spoiler...

 

I probably should have upgraded stuff, but I was anxious to see the ending so I went into the final assault with having done no upgrades the entire game. Before I even landed on the Collector ship, my "A" team of Thane/Jack that I had used for much of the game was already dead, along with Legion (all in cut scenes). I sent Tali into the ducts, she died while trying to close the door. I sent Mordin back with the crew, they made it alive. I ran with Grunt/Garrus for the rest of the mission, ran out of ammo fighting the human reaper, so that took some time to down as I was just using my adept powers and letting them two fire their weapons. Told Illusive Man to shove it, and blew up the ship. Lovely conversation with him following that. I really loved the scene where you're walking towards Joker and see the remaining members of your team. Then Joker hands you the clip board thing and all those reaper ships.... opcorn:

Oh and I guess Miranda died, didn't realize this until I chose to continue the game instead of importing for a brand new one. I left her with Jacob and Samara to hold back the collectors at the door, after killing the human reaper it did show someone laying the on ground but I didn't think much of it. Guess that was Miranda's dead body.

you can start another playthrough with your current character and create a new save. i played through the game twice with the same character (paragon then renegade). both saves showed up when i imported to ME2, just make sure you don't overwrite your current save file.

yes each playthrough the game saves the ultimate results

for example you finish the game the first time and you want to have a different ending for that game with the same choices you made in that game. What you do is just go back to the last save and start from there and finish b/c like stated earlier the game saves all FINISHES so if you play the same save 4 times and each time you choose a different ending those 4 playthroughs will be saved

dont worry about saves its the end result that you worry about and that can only be erased if you do that on the dashboard

Thane was the only person who died for me. This was when I had to break my team up into two for the second time. Thane was named the group leader and couldn't make it. I like the fact that Thane died even though I had full loyalty and everything.

Very close, wouldn't suggest doing that mission unless you've done the side quests you want to.

Maynard, you need to update what's going on with the choices you made, because it seems we made completely different decisions for the whole game.

And the temptation to click spoiler tags is overwhelming, but I won't do it.

To whoever asked about dossier info:

 

there's a point in the game where you do an important mission on Horizon. After that mission, most of the character side quests and 2 more dossiers open up.

I don't know if you guys are rushing through, but I'm at about 12-15 hours right now and I'm about to collect the justicar and assassin. I'm not even halfway...but I also spend a shit ton of time raping planets.

I still can't find any Element Zero on planets...the random container here or there, but I need a lot to do upgrades.
