Mass Effect 2 Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

It happened to my other friend. He never had any interest in ME and blew through it after the hooplah without really doing anything, and it was apparently a bloodbath at the end and no one survived.

Still, I think it's dumb. They had to program that possibility INTO the game, so the idea that it's BioWare saying "Well, we wanted you to play the WHOLE game, not just what you want to play" is silly. They spout this crap about your choices affecting the future, but I really just think that they should have made it that you can't complete the game with a dead Shepherd. I still think it makes absolutely no sense since Shepherd isn't dead, because he's in the third game. It's just an arbitrary thing they threw in to say "look how your decisions matter!" but they don't matter to the story like EVERY other one does, because the overall narrative still has Shepherd alive in the 3rd one. They just give you the sidequest results that they want, like if you didn't import to ME2.

Sorry for the rant, it just seems like such a stupid feature.

I think one of the reasons behind it was to prevent "speed runs".

Go through make X decision here and Y decision there. Only to speed run a few times altering the major choices without appreciating any of their work. Any artist wants their work appreciated and I can respect that.

So if you just want to do it that way, well you can't carry it into the future.

So I sorta get it.

Maybe the ability to chose to play as Wrex, or T'soni, Garrus, or Talli or whomever. And continue the fight against the Reapers.

I was anticipating you'd play as your offspring from someone you fucked in one of the games if your Shep died.

But they have stated that they want the ME3 out as soon as they can, so we might see it in a year's time and that would be a bit complex to develop in such a short time frame.

Exactly TJ. My entire point. And I love the possibilities you listed. I just don't think it would be possible to do. Just WAY too many possibilities. Which is why I think they should have made it like "Well, you murdered your entire crew, but you made it out. Best of luck in game 3 man, you're going to need it." Do we know if Shepherd can survive solo? I would guess not given the leap on the final cutscene. It seems like the endings/deaths in this game require mathematical equations. I know most of them, but haven't heard if you can survive on your own (or maybe with just one survivor to pull you into the ship?).

This game also pretty much kills the idea of any of your followers playing any significant part of the story in Mass Effect 3 which is dissapointing. They're not going to dedicate any notable part of the game to a previous character if there's a pretty good chance they're dead.

Thought about this too. My guess would be maybe 1 or 2 will come back if you kept them alive in playable form, like last time. Although obviously since Tali or Garrus couldn't die, that was easier. Since I've read that it is easier for some character's to die over other, maybe that will effect it? If not, you're totally right: there are just WAY to many possibilities to make many, if any, teammates in ME3.

I think Liara will definitely be back, as will Kaiden/Ashley (although Ash acted like a bit of a cunt when I met her), but I can't imagine another game where you get like 7 more new people. Have to be SOME familiar faces in there, right? Every crew we get is supposed to be the best and the brightest, how can we keep replacing them? Where have these other people been all that time?

Still, if anyone can pull it off, it's BioWare. I found EVERY character in this game to be x2 more interesting than any of them in ME1, with the exception of perhaps Grunt, because I love Wrex.

My dream team for ME3 would be:

Wrex, Grunt, Garrus, Legion, Thane, Mordin, and Miranda.

My Shepard+Grunt+Wrex=unstoppable.

I do like Grunt, I just don't see them giving you two Krogan, so if I had to choose: it'd be Wrex.

I'm surprised I like Grunt too, considering going in when he was announced I thought he looked like a lamer version of Wrex and since my Wrex was alive, I wanted him back.

One of my favorite conversation interrupt scenes is when that whiny Krogan who's name I can't remember is bitching about you not being tough enough to be a crant and you can choose to just out of nowhere fucking head butt him, and the Shaman gets a boner for you over it.

If this is 100% true I'm sure some characters have a greater chance of surviving than others. It seems like Thane is the easiest victim, as he can't be a specialist for any of the choices, he can die on the Normandy, and when I played through he was simply a random victim of choosing the wrong biotic specialist.

i just finished the grunt loyalty mission last night. The only one i have left is the mordin loyalty mission.

i still have a free spot on my squad, and i am eager to find out who will fill that spot. I thought it would be wrex, but i guess not. Should be fun to find out
