i am a little confused by what you guys are saying about the last time i can explore before moving on.....

 

i did IFF and was able to explore and travel at will after it. I then did legions loyalty mission and then did the thing with Joker. Now i have opened up the suicide mission and i can still travel at will and explore.

Saluki posted that doing stuff after IFF could have dire consequences. I even read a line in the ME2 wiki that said to do everything before going to IFF.

so i am thinking, WTF? why can i still travel at will without any notice from the game (like from EDI or whatever) that i should goto the omega 4 relay now

i dont want any spoilers and i am gonna try and finish it up tonight. I got lots of saves in case i fucked somthing up without knowing it

 

They didn't mean that you CAN'T travel, Maynard, they just meant that if you do more than Legion's sidequest after your crew is taken by the Collectors, it affects how many of your crew survive. On my second playthrough I did not know this, and literally only Dr. Chakwas made it out alive. I watched Yeoman Kelly die a horrific death.

Regarding my long post, I agree with everything you said, although you can't be too upset at not having an over abundance of power cells. If you did, the Cain would make the game a cakewalk!

i got to fire 1 shot from the cain i decided to use it during one of the more intense situations at then end. i have it at 92% and the dam thing wouldnt fire. i guess it needs to be over 100% to work

i am still not sure how to use that thing

Yeah u need it at 100%, then hold the shoot button it'll charge then all hell will break loose

i finished at level 28 too. but then i started a new game last night and after the first mission i was at level 30 and got the achievement. Luckily this game isnt driven by levels or XP. I didnt want the game to end and starting a new game will allow me to go back and understand everything i forgot from my first play thru.

my first run took 54H 29M to finish. i am hoping the 2nd run takes at least 20H

Pretty awesome game so far. I'm taking my time just exploring everything. So far I've got Mordin and am in the process of getting Archangel.

I don't like how I can't walk around the Presidium in the Citadel, thats kind of lame. Does it ever open up like it was in ME1?

The Citadel? No. But the rest of the game is much better than ME1 in terms of variety. Goodbye shitty Mako and repetitive interiors!

Just beat it for my 3rd runthrough last night. The ending sequence still gives me chills. This might seriously be my favorite game ever. I just never get tired of it.

Just finished getting The Convict on Insanity too. Man is that ever a bear.

My finish time was around 45.5 hours. I ended up with a over 100K credits and EZ, and around 200K of the other 3 elements. I think I want to replay the ending though...

i replayed the ending too....i had similar results to what u got, but with different people......

this link will show u exactly how to get thru the end without any deaths. i didnt want anyone dead and i also gave the base to cerberus.

when i replayed it, i didnt allow anyone to die and i blew up the base. This is the save i will take to ME3.

i plan to play it thru this time and kill the geth and give the base to cerberus/ and try to be a total renegade.

and mgoblue dont worry about not have the presidium, you will find some places that are just as awesome. i was a bit disapointed by not having the full presidum available, but we have already seen that world. The new worlds are pretty sweet. you'll see

I figured there are. The Omega place is pretty cool.

It's too fucking much. One firefight takes as long as entire MISSIONS do. I'm trying to get the Krogan, and it's just one endurance test after another. It doesn't help that my idiot teammates like to jump up and eat rockets. One rocket in the face means they stumble back and get shredded by everyone else.

I'm playing as a Vanguard. I think Sentinel with an Assault Rifle upgrade would work the best. That extra shielding would be money, plus having access to Overload AND Warp would help. Although Shockwave is a fucking lifesaver on Insanity.

Lastly, I don't see how it would be humanly possible to get the best ending on Insanity. The fights just last too long.

So I beat this game once a couple days ago, and I was kind of disappointed with the ending I got.

 

I had to watch Kelly die because I didn't know I could only do Legion's sidequest after they got abducted. Thane died because I hadn't upgraded my ship (didn't know I had to do that), Samara died because I fucked up on her loyalty mission and she wasn't loyal, and then Legion got carried away by seeker swarms, but I don't know why. This is the only one I don't understand, so I want to avoid it happening again. Anyone know why that happened? I had his loyalty mission done and everything.

I just started a new game with the same character though, so I can have a good save for ME3.

 

Legion being carried off by swarms is because of who you chose for the assignments. you have to choose specific people for those assignments or you will lose someone.

If you have a save thats is right when you got legion, try to go back to it. Its like this, get legion back on your ship. Activate him and talk to him to unlock his loyalty mission. Then you can access the map to be able to run his mission before the ambush on your ship (my game allowed me to do it this way, but not everyone seemed to be able to do this. not sure why. Try and see how it plays out)

also, upgrade your ship before moving anywhere.

after you do legions mission, you can go back and open the map and it will now trigger the ambush on the ship. To avoid losing Kelly or any of the ship crew, u must go thru the omega 4 relay right away.

as for losing crew members, you just have to pick the right people to do stuff.

let Tali handle the vents. Have garrus, miranda or jacob be the fire leader

for the 2nd part, have Jack (dont use Samara cause she isnt loyal) protect you with the shield. Again have garrus, miranda or jacob handle the 2nd crew.

Also, have Mordin take the crew back to the ship

for the final fight, take tali and jack as your squad mates. Leave the others to defend the position.

If you do it like this, nobody will die

So Legion got taken away because I had him in my squad? I had Legion do the vent thing and he didn't die there. I had Garrus lead both of the secondary squads. I had Samara do the biotic field though, but she didn't die until after that when the second squad was trying to get back to the ship. And surprisingly, I had Grunt lead the team back to the ship and Mordin never died, which seems to happen to most people. Instead, Samara died there like I said.

[EDIT] Ah, I see what I did now. I read the guide, and now it makes sense.

 

Since Samara wasn't loyal and she was doing the biotic field, Legion got taken away during that part of the mission. That makes sense. So if I would've just used Jack, I wouldn't have lost Legion. Damn.

I took tali's side and Legion survived my last mission, biggest tip for survival, let garrus lead ur two teams, he makes whoever goes through the pipe survive somehow, and the 2nd team leader ALWAYS get shot, but garrus is a tough bitch so he wont die.

regarding your ME1 save and the questions you answer at the start of ME2

 

so on my 2nd play thru which was continued from ME1. I chose anderson for the seat on the council and he was in that position when i played my first play thru.

on my 2nd play thru i decided to answer the test questions wrong....the ones Miranda and Jacob ask you at the start of the game.....you know, when your on the shuttle meeting with the Illusive man the first time?

anyways, when asked who i put on the coucil i said Udina....but like i said i actually picked anderson and this is from my ME1 save.

but meeting with anderson now, Udina is on the council. Anderson is an Admiral.
Thats fucked up....it would seem that the only choices from ME1 that matter are Wrex and Ashley/Kaiden.

if i had answered that i let the council live, i am sure they would be alive right now.

EDIT...ok, the only question that involves changing a choice is Anderson or Udina, everything else was from my ME1 save

the only one I lost was zaeed. i had him escort everyone to the ship. he wasnt loyal. i saved the workers. kelly died in the tube too. i had garrus lead the 2nd team
