i dont know about kingdom hearts, but ME is a cliche of itself. the theme in all 3 have been the same where you have our hero trying to save the world by recruiting teammates for the ultimate mission all the while be encouraged by a semi rogue militant and defying the galactic council who refuse to support his claims of the forthcoming uprising.

Dude, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or what, but this isn't even the case. ME2 by all accounts appears to be the only one that falls under that description. Lol at "the theme in all 3" when the 3rd isn't even out yet.

I never said the overall idea wasn't cliche...just that his post doesn't make any sense.

Besides, you never played the first one, didn't like or finish the second one, and are clearly only here to talk about shitty Square games so yeah...nice attempt at trolling, but no one cares.

I thought the opening sequence was a bit lacking. It was cool but it should've been crazier. I liked the second part of the game you play, combat was fun.

I like the story of Mass Effect. There is a lot going on in with each race, not only just the Reaper aspect.

Bro McBroski is without question the least interested I've been in any character in any of the game so far, but it is kinda cool that Freddie Prinze Jr. has played through both of the first two games twice.

But I couldn't help but feel a bit let down by the opening. There was definitely a moment or two in there that conveyed some emotion but it should've been greater. The combat gameplay felt much improved though, the whole experience came across finely tuned. I for one loved the new heavy melee attack. I was over using it too. :shifty:

I wasnt talking about the overall theme of the series...as i stated after i used the word theme. The series theme is the pending end of the world...that in itself is a major cliche but not even what i am talking about.

I am talking about the same story concept being used game after game. I believe the 3rd game has shown enough to be able to say it will follow the same concept as ME2 where its a bunch of linear based recruiting/loyalty missions that end with a major battle on the earth...there will probably be a midway semi climax of the main story as well

ME1 also followed that theme only without the loyalty missions and a few less crew recruiting scenarios. It had the better and more diverse story than ME2 had.

im not at all saying its a bad theme. its one of the best parts of the game. But i think that ME3 will be looked at like the return of the jedi of the series.

I will gladly admit that I was wrong as far as that is concerned...thought that I read you writing that you only played ME2. Regardless...if you're going to act like KH is a decent story, at least explain how...

I played and finished both. I played 2 first. Finished that over the course of a few days. Felt underwhelmed about the whole thing. Still said it was a very good game, but a bit overrated by the masses is how this all started. Then I asked my friend about 1 and he had it(This was before I got my 360). Well I stayed at his house for a few days and also beat that. I then felt I didn't like the direction the game was going after playing one. I felt like more focus was taken from the RPG elements of the series from 1 to 2 and yet turning the game into just another shooter.

I'm gonna go ahead and take it you haven't really played Kingdom Hearts since you claim it isn't a story. Unfortunately this isn't a Kingdom Hearts thread and it would be a glorious post that will look like an essay for me to tell you the story and how(Hilarious Question to begin with). If you want to me explain it for you make a thread. I would happily have a KH thread in the arcade, but I know I am the only one who would post in it. I know there are a few guys who play and love it(because they haven't written it off before even playing it). Otherwise if it is really important for you to know the extremely deep and convoluted story of KH you can always PM.

:yao: All it takes is a little reading. Like I said I was simply declaring that I had no urge to play the demo. What seems to be the issue is that I'm playing KH instead. What if my post said Madden instead? Would it be that much of a problem. Since you played 1 and 2 I'm gonna go on a limb and say you got confused and just chalked it up as shit. It's ok. The story seems to go over a lot of heads. You aren't the only one.

Got my ME2 downloading all the extra shit (picked up Arrival off PSN as well) Gonna kick some shit off tonight. Last time I beat ME2 was on 360 when it first came out. Gotta get my Kusher Shepard save file ready before ME3 drops.

When should I dive into Arrival? Is it a mission that shows up from the get go and you can go to whenever or do you have to beat the main story first?

Arrival plays better, thematically/story-wise, after the final mission.

It explains why you're in front of the Human Alliance Council at the start of ME3 and it fits better as a prologue to ME3 rather than a one-off mission like "Overlord."

Play it after the Main Game and "Lair of the Shadow Broker."

EDIT: If there's going to be an argument for "Worst Character," top billing should go to Jacob from ME2.

What else does he do aside from being a placeholder crew member at the beginning?

Other than kiss your feet and pines over his supposedly buried family issues.

He just there to give you Armor upgrades to the Normandy and... volunteer for the vents even though he's not Tech class.

You get the option to start a New Game+ or to keep playing after the last main story mission.

If you want easy minerals to scan for and use, do it after the mission on Horizon (end of Act 1); otherwise do it after the main game but before Arrival.
