I don't know if you guys posted this in the thread yet, and if you did, well, i'm telling you again.
Bellator Fighting Champioships is moving from ESPN Deportes to ESPN 2 next season.
This could potentially end up being one of the biggest stories in the sport in 2010. ESPN has treated MMA with kid gloves the last few years...they covered Chuck/Rampage hard, when they were cautiously courting UFC, but have since pretty much ignored MMA aside from "bottom line" reports & an internet show that they never promote.
That will obviously change. What i'm curious about, is just how hard they promote the show. Buried at 3AM on ESPN 2 means nothing. Prime time airings, with promos on SportsCenter and cross promotion with other programming is key. And they must at least do the finals live, if not the entire run.
ESPN reaches far more homes than Showtime, so unless Strikeforce gets CBS, ESPN has a shot to be the legit #2. The question, is do they want it?
