Most boring, mundane NFL season I can ever remember

NE is a team with excellent coaching. Don't have to be the best athlete, simply do exactly as your instructed, play your ass off for 60 minutes whistle to whistle and you'll find yourself in spot to make plays all game long.

Does anyone else not see a connection between guys like DJax, Stevie Johnson, TO, Ochocinco and big play drops and stupid ideas in key situations? These guys are too busy thinking touchdown dance before they catch the ball.

These guys hurt their teams as often as they help and many of these teams would be better off without them.

NE's made a killing off selfless players who just work hard and do what the coaches say, those types of players clearly don't listen to coaches and it shows throughout their careers.

Unfortunately, their great coaching hasn't amounted to much when the playoffs start the past few years...maybe they need to start developing some stars instead of re-treads or undrafted FA's to fit their "system". They need some studs, Brady isn't getting any younger.

The thing that is boring about the NFL is that fact that a lot of these teams with good records are actually bad. The Ravens, 49ers, and Steelers are some of the worst 8 and 9 win teams I have ever seen. The Raiders at 7-4 are fucking awful, led by a POS QB. The NFC it comes down to the Saints or Packers come playoff time, no other team seems to matter.

THen it goes back to the QB play. Yea sure there are a lot of yardage being put up but there are really only 5-6 QBs that I can say are exciting to watch.

Also if Norv Turner doesnt get fired this year, he'll never get fired. He wasted the talent of that team in its prime.

You got your bays mixed up. Packer fans on this board arent homers and if anything im overcomplimentary to our rivals. its the Tampa Bay fans that like to bitch. we're just enjoying it.

Anyway, I'm enjoying football more than ever, but that's also because i've worked sundays for the last 4 years and this is also the first season I can watch whatever game I want on a bigscreen. Also, we came really close to not having it, and I wasn't one of those types who was like "fuck em if it goes away i dont care". I would have been devastated without football especially considering how long it took the NBA to come back so i wouldnt have even had a fallback sport.

Packers alone: The first Minnesota game is overshadowed by the asswhooping in the second one, but they were a fourth down conversion away from beating Green Bay in Minnesota. Rodgers is having a G.O.A.T. season and we're eatin that shit up because we don't have to worry about retard mode interceptions like we did with Favre. his numbers dating back to last years playoffs would be difficult to reproduce in madden, let alone on a football field.

I've enjoyed watching Cutler become the guy I knew he could be and feel good about having defended him all these years, I enjoy watching Ponder play and think he has a better shot at being a 10 year starter than Matt Stafford does, and Suh's recent problems aside, he is a monster and is a joy to watch.

The 9ers have been a great story, and will be nice and overhyped at a 13-3 record heading into the playoffs.

the East is anyone's, and Tony Romo is exciting to watch just because you don't know if good Tony or bad Tony is going to show up.

Watching the Eagles lose all those games was great too, fuck you 4th and 26. Still, before they were out of contention, watching Mike Vick was extremely exciting.

in the NFC South, Cam Newton has come out way better than anyone expected, and he really exposed Green Bay for the mediocre defense they have. Drew Brees is always a treat to watch and we'll be telling our kids we watched him play live.

AFC:

The resurgence of the raiders has been great, the Chiefs were actually relevent there for a while, and even though Rivers has sucked its still compelling watching him suck. you get the feeling that whoever is out there playing is a body double and the real Phil rivers is being held captive by aliens.

in the north... oh who gives a shit about the North. Joe Flacco sucks. Cincinatti at least has some hope for the future with the Red Rifle, and they fleeced the Raiders. Bengals are watchable because they have a damn good chance of being relevent for a while if they can do well enough in the draft. That defense doesn't get the credit it deserves. Mike Zimmer is one of the top assistants in football and his guys love him and play hard for him. They are even more compelling now that they got rid of the reality tv stars.

in the south, it's nice to see Houston doing something, and as a closeted Pat's guy, im enjoying the schaudenfraude of Indy's collapse.

in the East, the Bills were must see TV for a while there. The Jets are... the Jets. Mark Sanchez sucks. still nice to see loudmouth lose. The Pats continue to look like the well oiled machine as ever. People give them a hard time for whiffing on Chad Johnson and Haynesworth, but what I think is impressive is the team is winning even with their questionable personnell decisions lately. Tom Brady is still the perennial MVP candidate we've come to expect, and even the Dolphins are putting up a fight lately.

So I don't know what you expect, but pretty much everywhere I look, in every division, theres something interesting happening. this season has been great.

This is very true. The Falcons are 7-4 and one of the least enjoyable versions of this team I can remember. They don't really do anything particularly well and don't put bad teams away. Just a joyless team. I watch every week, and feel almost nothing when we pull out a win.

And then you have the last five minutes of every Broncos game (sans the Detroit game) since Tebow took over.

49ers/Lions was an awesome game. Even as a 49ers fan, the reality of how good they are this season hadn't really sunk in yet. I was doing homework just with that game on in the backround, not really paying attention and figuring they'd lose. Then they're tied (or close to it?) at half so I paid a little closer to the second half. I don't think anyone thought that Alex Smith would throw a game-winning TD pass on 4th down. Oh yeah, then the coaches almost got into a fight.

I thought that was exciting and I've loved this season so far. The typical teams aren't winning every single game like they usually have (Colts, Pats, Steelers, etc). ESPN's coverage has been terrible so that has to be partly to blame. Schlereth is always saying dumb shit and Merrill Hoge is always on some pious rant about some stupid shit. It's Tim Tebow Talk 24/7 and I'm bored of that. With fans focused on shit like that, it's no wonder that are becoming bored of the NFL.

I'm not really that kind of a fan though. I don't get too caught up with the story-of-the-week or whatever player drama that is. It's Tim Tebow this year, in past it's been Favre, T.O., Vick, etc. I don't give a shit about those kinds of plotlines so a lack of them really doesn't hurt my football enjoyment. That being said, there've been some fun things that I've noticed.

Ricky Jean-Francois is on the 49ers and talked shit about Andrew Luck. That was interesting. I guess if your team is becoming irrelevant then I can see how you'd lose interest in this season, but I'm loving it. In past years I used to pick any random second team to root for because I'd know that the 49ers would be a joke that season and I didn't do that this year (for example, last year was the Falcons, the year before that was Carolina, etc. etc.). Maybe its just my favorite team finally having an impact in the NFL again which is keeping me interested?

I guess this season (or any other) is whatever you make of it. I'm not really one that needs a ton of drama or side-plots to get excited for football. Watching quality games on Sunday pretty much does it for me.

Nah, they won a SB before without anything more than they have now really.

The NE and GB defences are playing identical, hell on both sides of the ball statsically, it's really quite close.

Are we really playing that poor when we're playing the damn same as the defending champion, and team who's won for a straight year?

We don't need studs, those are for the Jets, who can't get over the hump with those studs.

There are no perceived "locks" for the superbowl outside of Green Bay and now it even looks like the 49ers could do well to put up a half-decent challenge for that spot in the playoffs. Considering the 49ers style of football and the game being in Green Bay in January, an upset doesn't seem like a fantasy. That's not boring.

I'm just glad that I'm not so jaded that I can't even enjoy football anymore. Of course, we can all probably guess at why I'm digging this season :smug:. Still, my interest is no more or less this year than it has been any other year.

And I'm just gonna throw this out there. The top two teams in six of the eight divisions in the NFL are within two games or less. The NFC North and West are essentially the only divisions sewn up with any true certainty. And with just five games remaining in the season, 18 of 32 teams are still in the playoff hunt.
