Report: Magic End Trade Talks For Dwight Howard

The Orlando Magic have ended trade talks for Dwight Howard, sources have told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Howard has been the center of rampant speculation over the past several weeks after the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year apparently requested a trade from the Magic to the New Jersey Nets. Howard, 26, is expected to opt-out of his contract at the end of this season, however his commitment to re-sign with the Magic long-term has remained up in the air. Some within the Magic organization have reportedly expressed optimism about retaining Howard despite his demands.

It was reported this morning that the Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, and an unnamed franchise were working on creating a four-team deal that would send Howard and Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu to New Jersey. In return it was believed that the Magic would receive Nets center Brook Lopez and Trail Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace.

The Magic front office also reportedly spoke with the Los Angeles Lakers about a potential deal for Howard.

Last season, the five-time All-Star averaged 22.9 points, 14.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. It is believed he will become a free agent next offseason through an opt-out clause in his contract.

I guess he'll be traded in February.

Chauncey Billups is expected to show up at Clippers camp today. Neil Olshey plans on selling him on the team and smoothing over his emotions. Apparently he wasn't happy when he found out about the waiver claim, but Olshey is confident that he can convince him in much the same way as he did with Marcus Camby and Sam Cassell.

Paul to the Clippers finally

The Clippers, sources said, will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul.

NBA expected to approve tonight.

Much better deal for both sides no lop sided contracts or old aging players, both teams got what they wanted younger and better. Solid trade nobody should be angry expect for maybe a few salty Hornet fans.

Keeping Bledsoe makes that hurt less. Plus without Gordon demanding the ball like he had been, it gives more touches to Caron Butler and DJ (Blake's are a given).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mo being traded for some front court depth. It's really just Blake Griffin and DJ as the other real bigs. They do have the $2.5MM exception to work with so getting cheap FA is a likely course of action as well.

I can't see the Clippers making that trade without a guarantee from CP3 that he'll sign an extension. Blow up an entire organization and lose a potentially elite player in the near future, while also giving up what will most likely be a top 5 pick in the draft.

Is this not the same trade that was agreed upon a couple days ago when the NBA was asking for Bledsoe too?

Just seems like they lightened their stance unless I'm missing something.

It's still a better trade than what they were getting in return from the Lakers and Rockets. Getting Gordon along with Aminu, Kaman's expiring contract and Minnesota's #1 pick makes this a great trade for NO......now they'll have to worry about keeping Gordon in a few years. LOL

What a fantastic trade for New Orleans.

Why? The only reason this trade didnt go through a few days ago was because the NBA wanted to add more. No reason to thank Stern for doing nothing but delay the inevitable.
