NCAA Dynasty Update Thread

I don't play defense only because it is the single most frustrating thing I have ever experienced in gaming. Especially when your teams offense scores a whopping 9 TD's in 9 games. Fuck DC. My defense at San Jose state has fucking 5 td. Half of what my offense has done. And they expect me to stop them 25 minutes out of 30 because they turn the ball over every drive e. Lolololol.

/end rant

Don't remember the rest of the season in detail, but we went 5-7. Beat Miami (OH), lost to the rest. I picked up another 5-star in recruiting, this time a DE.

My runningback ran for 1400 yards and 13 TDs while my best receiver posted a 70-1000-13 statline. Both will be back for me next season.

Week 9 - BYE Week.

I'm 3-5 right now.

1. @ Illinois - L 20-45
2. vs Purdue - L 0-16
3. @ Michigan - L 7-55
4. vs Penn State - L 14-24
5. vs Akron - W 24-17
6. @ Toledo - W 27-13
7. @ Central Michigan - L 24-35
8. vs Western Michigan - W 52-28
9. BYE
10. vs Ball State (3-5)
11. vs Buffalo (3-5)
12. @ Kent State (1-6)
13. @ Northern Illinois (4-4)

Stat Leaders:

T.Benz - 55/104 794 yards 8 TDs 6 INTs
A.Gillett - 42/95 738 yards 3 TDs 11 INTs

D.Sherrer - 77 attempts 448 yards 3 TDs, 9 receptions 133 yards 1 TD
C.Welch - 76 attempts 391 yards 2 TDs, 6 receptions 40 yards

G.Hoskins - 34 receptions 449 yards 3 TDs
K.Thomas - 24 receptions 410 yards 1 TD
T.Hunter - 15 receptions 258 yards 3 TDs
N.Olds - 10 receptions 196 yards 3 TDs

M.English - 46 tackles, (24 solo), 5 TFL, 2 INT,
J.Gillespie - 40 tackles, (24 solo), 3 INTs, 2 TD
B.Ohrman - 29 tackles (14 solo), 11 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 2 FF
J.Westerman - 22 tackles, (13 solo), 10 TFL, 5.0 sacks, 1 FR

S.Graham - 7/8 FG, 38 yard long

I've got four in season recruits to commit so far;
2 star MLB - Josh Fields 6'1" 236lbs
1 star DE - Trae Rhodes 6'6" 239lbs
1 star CB - Chad Weber 6'0" 187lbs
1 star MLB - Corey Peterson 6'3" 240lbs

I got Sherrer back from injury for the Western Michigan game and I'll be getting Gillett back for the Ball State game, which gives me the question, do I put Gillett back in, and throw picks all day, or do I keep Benz, a FR, in and give him more playing time.

Well, the 2011 season is over.

I finished 5-7, right around where I thought i'd be..considering a starting QB that's made of glass, and throws picks more than incompletions. Didn't help either that I lost my starting RB for five weeks and my backup QB for the Kent State game, and Gillett came back for the Northern Illinois game.

2011 Schedule

1. @ Illinois - L 20-45
2. vs Purdue - L 0-16
3. @ Michigan - L 7-55
4. vs Penn State - L 14-24
5. vs Akron - W 24-17

8. vs Western Michigan - W 52-28
9. BYE
10. vs Ball State - W 34-25
11. vs Buffalo - L - 23-29
12. @ Kent State - W - 31-17
13. @ Northern Illinois - L - 21-48

TCU was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I was sick of losing games, because of the defense. TCU had a great defense, so I had to take the job. TCU was a little down when I got there (3* prestige), but they had a ton of talent (95 OVR). We were able to be successful on offense, because of the Offensive Line. The OL had four seniors starting, the entire line had an average overall of 90.4, including three players rated over 90. Our offense was a two-back system led by Marlin Dodds and Aaron Brooks. Dodds was more of a power guy, while Brooks was more of a speed guy, but they could play to both styles. I went with the hot hand or played whoever wasn't fatigued. We also had a pretty good passing game. I had a great WR in John Anderson (94 OVR) along with some other solid guys to have a deadly passing attack. QB Tremayne Johnson didn't have eye-popping stats, but he could make just about every throw. The Texas game was bullshit. We took a 31-30 lead with 30 seconds left, and the defense blows it by giving up a 95 yard TD pass. We benefited greatly from an easy schedule. In Week 13 there wasn't even a ranked team in the Big 12. Only Oklahoma and us ended up ranked at the end of the season. We finished the season with an impressive win over Mississippi State in the Cotton Bowl, which was essentially a bonus home game for us.

PASSING

|SO (RS)|Shawn Beach|136.1|10|16|94|2|0|55|1
Tremayne Johnson was a very good QB for us. The majority of his interceptions were on deep balls, so it's not as bad as it looks. When we needed to pass the ball we could rely on him to make all the throws. The one thing he couldn't do was run (59 SPD), so it was tough to evade pressure, and I couldn't run any option. Beach will be a good QB for TCU next year.

SO (RS)|Aaron Brooks|104|620|7.4|11|0
FR|Kyle Ham|17|191|5.3|2|0
The focus of this team was in the running game, and the stats showed it. The combination of Dodds and Brooks was hard to stop. As I mentioned earlier, Dodds was more of the power guy, adn Brooks was the speed guy, but they both have have the skill sets to be complete backs. Both of them made 2nd-Team All Big 12. If Dodds decides to go to the draft I'll let him go. I'll try to bring back Brooks if he goes. Ham was our FB who we used on short yardage situations.

I was really glad we had John Anderson, because John Anderson's just don't grow on trees. He could do anything you asked a WR to do. If we passed the ball more he would of been a Biletnikoff finalist. Taylor was a very good number two option. Not too confident in his ability as a one. Warren was our very reliable TE who worked the middle very well. AJ was our third receiver. The other Williams was our 4th WR and 2nd TE.

LOOKING FORWARD

Vic Shealy (TCU HC) got fired and I got offered the job. The only other real offer I got was the HC job at Michigan State. I didn't have any interest in that job, so I took the promotion to become the new HC of TCU. We are losing 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense, so I got a lot of work to do.

PEOPLE I NEED UPDATES

I should have an update for you guys by Wednesday on how things went in my first season as Louisville's OC.

Outlook

Coming into the 2012 season, the schedule is tougher in my opinion, considering I lost my first and second string running backs in the offseason, as well as offensive line depth. My defense didn't take that much of a step backwards, I have a deep linebacking core and secondary...so to speak for a MAC team but my defensive line is suspect and will probably give me some problems this year that I didn't have last.

With the transfers of Junior (RS) QB Dusty Kiel from Indiana and Junior (RS) RB Curtis Dukes from Penn State, I'm hoping I can run the ball more this year with Sophomore Javonti Green, have a decent season with QB Andy Gillett in a game manager type role for his Senior year, and pass the torch to Kiel and have a two running back system.

I'm optimistically looking for a 7-5 season, starting off the season against tough Big Ten opponents will surely test my patience with this somewhat inept team lol.

No computer so just quick sstats.

In my 3rd year as Texas tech OC we ended up going 10-3 with a win over illionois in our insight bowl game. We were 8-1 until bush went down for four weeks.

Key players:
QB: Cameron Bush, SO: 189/336, 3515 YDS, 36td, 16 int
Rushing: Cameron Bush, SO: 126 attempts, 575 yds, 7 td
WR: Paul Hudson, (RS)JR: 72 catches, 1749 yds, 20 td

Going into my final year I think we have a real shot at the national title.

In my 1st year in the Big East with Kent State, I'm 8-0 and #4 BCS. I'm playing Louisville (3-3) next; I've had to start the game over 2x because I had to leave. The last time I was down at Half 21-7. Their HB is a stud and haven't been able to stop him in either game.

I started a new dynasty as the OC of North Texas and am running the spread offense. I'm in Week 12 and sitting at 6-5 with my final game of the season against Middle Tennessee State left to go. Updates soon to come.

This game is a joke. Which stats deserve a Heisman to you guys:

166/337, 2596, 23 TD, 8 INT
127 Rush, 480 yds, 9 TD

Beat only two top 25.

287/425, 4900 YDS, 55 TD, 14 INT
169 rush, 1074 YDS, 11 TDS

Beat 6 Top 10's alone.

QB 2 stomped QB 1 in the BCS title. QB 2 is Texas Techs very own stud Cameron Bush. QB 1 was a RS(SO) from Florida.. and he took over first place after a 3/10 1 TD conference gamegame.

Bush eon every possible award except the Heisman. Fucking JOKE.

2027 Season in Review
Final record: 12-2, (7-2 SEC)
Final Ranking: #6 Media, #6 Coaches
SEC Runner Up
Capital One Bowl Champions

Unfortunately I accidentally advanced without recording my game by game results. I had a four week stretch (v. Texas, at Mississippi State, v. South Carolina and v. Georgia) where every game was won by fewer than 7 points, including two which were won by fewer than three points. There was also an overtime thriller later in the year against Auburn, which we won 30-27. The only blemishes were a week 5 ass kicking at the hands of Florida (31-3) and a heartbreaking 28-25 loss to those same Gators in the Atlanta rematch. In the bowl game against Wisconsin, a field goal as time expired capped the season with another narrow victory.

PASSING STATS

#|NAME|CL|RTG|COMP|ATT|YDS|TD|INT|CMP%|LONG|SACK
2|Tony Crowder|SO(RS)| 152.8 | 195 | 346 | 3236 | 26 | 12 |56| 83 | 39
10|J.R. Smith|FR|103.7|3|5|26|0|0| 60 |12|3

We threw the ball a lot this season, more so than we had in many years. We were that comfortable with Crowder, even as a first year starter, to let him sling the ball 30 times a game. Aside from the forgettable performance in the Swamp (10-26, 108 yards, 3 interceptions and 4 times sacked) and a few careless turnovers toward the end of the season, Crowder was near flawless. His passing yardage total was good for 7th best in the nation. He's a draft eligible sophomore, but after we've had so much turnover at this position in recent years I'm really hoping he decides to come back for at least one more season, if not more. JR Smith would be the guy if he does leave, and he's more of a running back than a quarterback at this point.

RUSHING STATS

2lk5i5t.jpg

When Brandon Harris went down, junior RB Jason Bell made sure there was no dropoff in the running game thanks to his punishing North-South style.

#|NAME|CL|ATT|YDS|AVG|TD|LONG|FUM
11|Jason Bell|JR(RS)| 153 | 849 |5.5| 9 |70| 2
5|Brandon Harris|SR(RS)|80|546| 6.8 |7| 75 |1
10|J.R. Smith|FR|33|160|4.8|4|34| 2
21|Pete Mitchell|SO(RS)|27|144|5.3|1|16|0
15|Chris Munoz|JR(RS)|6|148|24.6|2|80|1

Five years ago, I inked Brandon Harris as the #1 running back recruit in the country. Thanks to injuries and a crowded backfield situation, he never carried the ball more than 87 times in a single season. A fractured elbow cost him the second half of his junior year and a partially torn PCL as a senior cost him the last 8 games of the regular season. It's hard to say a guy's career was a disappointment when he puts up over 4000 all-purpose yards, but as a runner Harris never quite elevated himself to the levels we hoped. While an exciting player, durability issues rendered him nothing more than a 3rd-down back and return specialist.

RECEIVING STATS

35mp5ao.jpg

Senior WR Brian Russell shows off the flypaper hands that made him a favorite target of Tony Crowder.

#|NAME|POS|CL|REC|YDS|AVG|TD|LONG
13|Brian Russell|WR|SR| 49 | 965 |19.6| 7 |75
15|Chris Munoz|WR|JR|35|434|12.4|2|32
45|Roland White|TE|SR(RS)|29|467|16.1|3|69
4|Justin Greene|WR|SR|28|610| 21.7 | 7 | 83
8|Lionel Carter|WR|SO(RS)|14|229|16.3|3|30
3|Dallas Porter|WR|FR(RS)|12|190|15.8|0|43

Brian Russell just missed out on 50 grabs and 1000 yards, but even without those round number milestones he had a hell of a season. Measuring just 6'0, 180, and possessing below average speed (88 rating), his playing days are likely over.

Chris Munoz took a step back from last year, where he led the team in receiving. He will be asked to do much more when he returns for his final season. Justin Greene was a five star recruit four years ago but could never distinguish himself until this season. He provided a needed big play threat opposite of the possession receiver, Russell. This group is about to get a lot younger as it loses three of its top four pass catchers, but there's lots of talent waiting in the wings.

DEFENSIVE STATS

14bjipf.jpg

Senior linebackers Ryan Kane (54) and Drew Cook (35) enjoyed many a rendezvous in the offensive backfield.

#|NAME|POS|CL|SOLO|ASSIST|TFL|SACK|INT|FF|FR|DEF TD
35|Drew Cook|LB|SR(RS)| 47 |32|13|3.0|3|0|0|0

33|Jimmy Roberts|DE|SO(RS)|30|17|14| 9.0 |0|1| 1 |0
6|Nick Edwards|SS|JR(RS)|26|29|4|0.0| 4 |0|0|0
18|Michael Jones|DT|SR(RS)|25|13| 15 | 9.0 |0|1|0|0
14|Antoine Rogers|LB|JR(RS)|25|27|12|2.0|0| 2 |0| 1 |
50|Kyle Brown|DE|SR(RS)|22|21|14|7.0|1| 2 | 1 |0
22|Dan Fine|CB|JR(RS)|21|24|1|0.0|2|0|0|0

This was probably the least dominant defense I've had in a few years, but some individual play makers kept us in enough games to allow our offense to win it. Drew Cook and Ryan Kane were two of the best LBs I've ever coached. Michael Jones followed up his all-everything junior year with a solid, if less spectacular, swan song.

A thin secondary meant we had to play senior Kevin Roth at corner instead of his natural position of safety. The patchwork defensive backfield was certainly adequate, but due to the lack of turnovers we were able to create, we had morphed into a bend but don't break defense by the end of the year. The secondary has to improve next season so we can return to our aggressive man-to-man principles.

The most exciting player set to return on this defense is probably rising junior Jimmy Roberts, who provides an elite size/speed/strength combo on the defensive line and should be around 93 or 94 OVR with an off-season of progression.

Well like I said I won the national championship with Texas Tech after my 5th year and my last year on my contract. I was expecting some decent head coaching jobs after bringing Texas Tech back from 3 consecutive sub .500 years before me and received NOTHING. So I signed a 2 year contract extension and am hoping to make the leap to HC soon.
