Johnson and Redding are huge losses as well. Those two, along with Ngata and Suggs, would close off the outside rushing lanes. Now they are wide open, as teams can win away from Ngata. They really had to keep one of them, and not lose both.
 
Opponents have averaged 3.2 ypc against the Ravens. Why do you people act like they are getting gashed at every opportunity?

BJGE took a 5.1 YPC out of Baltimore in Week 1, and his backup had 22 yards on 3 carries.

LeSean McCoy put up 81 yards in Week 2, and Vick added 34. Granted, smaller YPC but they kept pushing the Ravens.

Ridley had a bad week, but when do the Pats ever try and run the ball? Trent Richardson is another bad example, as the Ravens could just key on him all day and stack the box.

You might have a point, but I think their next game against the Chiefs will be telling about their run defense.
 
Ok so the Ravens defense has produced. They gave up some big pass plays against the Eagles but overall have produced.
 
The rush defense outside of short yardage situations hasn't been the problem. The problem is that every QB has thrown for 300+ against us and they have no pass rush at all.

It is hard to explain to a person who isn't a Ravens fan because, generally speaking, they haven't seen the defense week in and week out like a Ravens fan has the past few years. It's not just the numbers. It used to be, if a team was down double digits, it was over. Nobody feels that way anymore. This game against Cleveland is a perfect example. 23-16 with a few minutes left, in past years, unless it was Brady, Peyton, or Roethlisberger, game over. This year, as everyone saw, Cleveland and Brandon fucking Weeden moved the ball and had several opportunities to tie, and should have, Ravens were really only saved by Greg Little being awful.

The good news is that Terrell Suggs is progressing much faster than anticipated and from what I've heard through the grapevine should be activated following the Cowboys game.
 
Tough defensive game going on. Neither team can get a sustained drive going, and neither team is rushing the ball with any success. Guessing Andy Reid is about ready to abandon the run completely on the next drive.

Jets...wow....just wow. get shut out at home. i know SF is good, but they did have to travel across country and still won 34-0 in NY. maybe ryan doesnt know what he is doing. when will they realize that sanchez is a total bust? i think they know it, but they just dont want to admit it

i picked the aints and won with the points...but dam, 0-4. good game at least

I love to watch Lesean Mccoy play. I get the same excitement that I use to have as a kid when I watch Barry Sanders play( or Peter Warrick at FSU).

Sanchez sucked yesterday, but I put this hot mess on Mike Tannenbaum. Outside of Santonio Holmes, the Jets have absolutely NOTHING on offense. No gamebreakers at running back or wide receiver. I heard one of the sports talkies say the Jets were $8mil under the cap. Why not get Sanchez some real weapons?

Because there weren't any worthwhile media grabbing weapons to get.

The New York Jets are run as a team to gain market share from the NY Giants. They are the little dog, they want a bigger share of the city. Brett Favre, Rex Ryan, Tim Tebow, Santonio Holmes, etc. They are brought in for media/market reasons first, before the football reasons. Loud players who bring media baggage. That's all they want.

The NY Jets prioritize brand growth over winning, starting at the top with ownership. It's what he wants. It's who the Jets are. If the player isn't going to bring in the fanfare, the Jets aren't looking.
