My whole thing isn't really the fact there are bad calls. All officials on all levels are going to have their fair share of bad calls. I'm more concerned with the lack of respect these officials have from the players/coaches. They have no control in scrum situations, and are easily influenced by intimidating coaches or players..and sometimes even the crowd.

First NFL rule I'd eliminate ... illegal contact past 5 yards. The great receivers don't need that rule.

First NFL rule I'd create ... CFL size fields. Not the 55-yard mid field ... the width of the field and the 25-yard end zone.

There was a skirmish/fight/wtfeveryouwanttocallit on MNF and people should've been tossed. It was retarded that they weren't. I bet even Mike Martz would think you are a self righteous douchebag who says things without merit. Again though, that's your shtick, so keep it up.

So, moral of the story is, these replacements stink. But then, the real refs stink too, as do the umpires in baseball and the refs in basketball. I'm not understanding any of the frustration, or at least, any of the increased frustration.

There are people that still think that the refs gave the Steelers SBXL. Those weren't scabs, and yet it's still hotly contested. These are early season games by guys that aren't being respected and have had a few blown calls. The "aren't being respected part" is really all that differentiates this season from any other.

EDIT - as far as the intimidation factor: that's on the league. They are hanging the scabs out to dry despite not wanting to pay the "pro" refs. It's stupid.

On the matter of players/coaches intimidating the refs... that says more about them than it does the refs. The professionals are supposed to be the ones acting like professionals, no?

If we want to start ejecting folks all willy nilly, then John Fox should have been tossed for challenging a 12 man on the field penalty, out of pure spite like a fucking idiot, then bullying the official when the cut-and-dried ruling went against him. Fox lost his cool and temporarily behaved like a shithead. That is not the replacement officials' fault.

So for me, it's already over exposed. I've grown tired of it, all day Sunday is too much, I gave up on the third Sunday game years ago, so i'm not watching this shit on a Thursday. The NFL already asks men to ignore their families and hijack the TV for 12 hours on Sundays, I don't know how many other days of the week they think wives will put up with football, or how much of this game (with no defense anymore) we can even take at this point as fans.

There weren't any punches thrown, just a lot of shoving so I don't know if anyone should have been tossed but usually you see a ref getting in between players and moving them to the sidelines as fast as possible.

The reason that play went on forever is that the officials took 10 minutes to clear the pile and actually announce who had possession of the football and where to spot it. While they were huddled up trying to figure out what the hell was going on guys were just walking around the field (there's a gif of an Atlanta DB just flopping on after walking into a Denver lineman to try and draw a call), both of the sidelines were empty, coaches were yelling at the officials and God only knows what else.

None of that should be going on during a dead ball and I'm am unable to recall a time where it was happening so often.
