Replacement Ref Discussion Thread - Deal Reached, Will Work Thursday

There weren't any punches thrown, just a lot of shoving so I don't know if anyone should have been tossed but usually you see a ref getting in between players and moving them to the sidelines as fast as possible.

The reason that play went on forever is that the officials took 10 minutes to clear the pile and actually announce who had possession of the football and where to spot it. While they were huddled up trying to figure out what the hell was going on guys were just walking around the field (there's a gif of an Atlanta DB just flopping on after walking into a Denver lineman to try and draw a call), both of the sidelines were empty, coaches were yelling at the officials and God only knows what else.

None of that should be going on during a dead ball and I'm am unable to recall a time where it was happening so often.

On the matter of players/coaches intimidating the refs... that says more about them than it does the refs. The professionals are supposed to be the ones acting like professionals, no?

If we want to start ejecting folks all willy nilly, then John Fox should have been tossed for challenging a 12 man on the field penalty, out of pure spite like a fucking idiot, then bullying the official when the cut-and-dried ruling went against him. Fox lost his cool and temporarily behaved like a shithead. That is not the replacement officials' fault.

To be fair Fox had already seen a bunch of stupid stuff last Sunday night (the refs allowing a Pittsburgh challenge despite a play being run in its entirety with no whistle prior to the snap and the aforementioned disappearance of the two minute warning as well as a few other minor gaffes on simple understandings of things like whether a false start was able to be declined or not) and then saw 3 calls overturned by replay in the 1st quarter including a scoring play and a pretty obvious tipped ball that was called PI on the field.

Fox simply is at a point where he doesn't trust anything these guys do anymore and even after his dumb challenge, which was a hotheaded decision no doubt, the refs missed a Demaryius Thomas TD grab where there was really no doubt he got two feet in and the ref was in perfect position to make the correct call and then the absolute worst pass interference call I've ever seen when Tony Carter wasn't even near the receiver until a good second after the ball arrived.

John Fox has never lost his cool like that and he's been coaching for a long time, I think there is something to that.

Never have I seen an issue where the players and coaches are so outspoken in unison about a singular issue. Hell, these guys are basically 50/50 on things like blows to the head and leading with the helmet but they are all saying the same thing when it comes to the referees and that is that they're hurting the game and letting guys get away with murder out there. The more and more these guys figure out they are able to take advantage of the refs the worse it will get.

I did not see any fights on either Sunday.

I did not see a fight on the opening Wednesday.

That leaves the Week 1 MNF game, which I did not watch.

I don't know the contact looked incidental to me. The only people who should have been ejected from that game were the officials themselves for not knowing how to diffuse the situation.

I've seen incidents not as bad as that get players tossed. You can't touch an official ever and it happened at least twice. One in which Ray Edwards slapped a dude in the fucking face.

this commissioner is trying to be/come off as inovative and ground breaking..but ultimately making a joke of the league because he figures star power matters more than organizational qualiity

Fight is subjective, FUCKFACE. You can call it whatever you want. My point was that it was something that was out of hand and warranted ejections. You keep commenting on shit you haven't seen and think you have a legit argument as you usually do. I'm almost astonished at the balls and stupidity you have at thinking you can talk about it at all.
