Seriously. Do you know ANYTHING about college football at all? Honest question.

Penn St joined the Big 10 and one year later beat the piss out of everyone. They went 12-0. Their first 7 years in the conference they averaged 10 wins a season. Penn State has more National Championships in the last 30 years than Ohio State does. Outside of 3 down seasons since they joined the Big 10 Penn State has been nearly a perrenial 9+ win team.

Before Penn St joined the Big 10 they beat the crap out of anyone and everyone. They were 12-7 in Bowl games prior to joining the conference and 10-3 since. Of those 12 wins 8 of them were in the Cotton, Fiesta, or Sugar Bowl against top tier teams. Two of those wins off the top of my head that stick out are over the 1986 Miami team for the NC and the 1982 Sugar Bowl win over the Hershel Walker lead Georgia Bulldogs. Again...............

It's not exactly a gutsy choice to pick your favorite team to win it's own conference. Especially in the Big 10 last year where up until an overtime win against Iowa Ohio State had their faces in the Hawkeyes asses.

And it wasn't like I was the only one making that prediction; I saw numerous publications and analysts picking the Nittany Lions to win the conference as well.

Now if they said that Indiana was going to win the conference, then yeah, you have the right to call them a dumbass.
 
Senser, you're turning into Blitz with this 3 times in the past 30 years gimmick. The truth is Wannstedt has 2 of those 9 win seasons, in the past two years. We're not saying that Pitt is going to come in and be Ohio State, but this team is on an upswing on both the field and in recruiting.

Wannstedt has a style he wants to play, why can't you accept that Walt Harris's was different? Harris could get 7-8 consistently with an above average Quarterback and Wide Receivers, no Offensive Line, and no Defense in the Big East. Wannstedt is trying to create a balanced team, and while the only thing holding him back is his questionable play calling, Pitt has more talent on the field than most Big 10 teams any given season.
