I still dont believe the bounty made the Saints players wanna injure opponents any more than any other team.

This reminds of when people were saying Steroids didnt make guys hit more homeruns.
This particular point you made is highly subjective and no offense.. irrelevant.
The system was in place to reward injury. Thats all that matters.
I think the harsh penalties on the organization are telling us the "system of reward" is what is despicable in Goodells eyes. You're simply arguing whether it had any effect which is again..irrelevant. Noones going to sit and wait until it becomes blatant before doing something.

The bounty was just a reward for good hits that result in injury. Its not like they were going out of their way to collect the bounty.

Again. If they were rewarded 500k for being on ESPN plays of the week , or a "woo" hit noone would care. My understanding is there was no stipulation for "a good hit" it was the 'injury' that resulted in reward.

I understand that bounties are wrong. But I just assumed it was an accepted part of the game.

Ive said this before but guys dont play 100% every down every week.
Many guys are nutjobs and are always out to knock the shit out of someone and love the thrill of knocking a guy out of the game. But a team doesnt comprise of 11 Gregg Lloyds. Theres plenty of guys who will lay off you for the sake of there own body and a lesser extent there opponent when theres little on the line. Bounties make it so every play has a $ amount attached to injury. Coaches and ownership have ZERO business organizing or partaking any such system.


At the end of the day do we REALLY need another incentive for idiot defenders to avoid a wrap tackle and try to fuckin HitStick a guy ??
