Patrick Peterson made it known tonight that he wants to be the 2nd defensive player to win the Heisman. He took back another punt return and had a total of zero passes thrown in his general vicinity. That is shutdown at its finest.

I have come to accept the fact that he won't be a Saint and I am prepared to own his jersey no matter what team it is. It will be the ONLY non Saints NFL paraphernalia I will ever own

There haven't been any reports of a gold alternate from the Falcons. At least not yet.

Patrick Peterson’s next Heisman Trophy pose may come on offense.

LSU coach Les Miles said Wednesday that the Tigers were looking at the possibility of using Peterson some on offense the rest of this season.

“We’re investigating it, working hard at it and will see if we can get it accomplished,” Miles said.

Playing Peterson on offense, though, would have nothing to do with a Heisman Trophy campaign, Miles insisted.

“It would be to help us offensively and not in relation to some national award,” Miles said.

The Tigers could certainly use the help on offense, particularly in their passing game. They're ranked 115th nationally in passing offense.

Peterson, who’s already returned two punts for touchdowns this season, said following the opener at North Carolina that he’d gone to the coaches more than once about playing some on offense.

With the Tigers’ struggles on that side of the ball mounting, it looks like they may take him up on it.

And why not?

He’s easily one of the most explosive athletes in college football and has the frame (6-foot-1, 214 pounds) to take the pounding. The Tigers have also been able to build some good depth in their secondary with a handful of talented freshmen.

Miles isn’t out there touting Peterson for the Heisman, but he did have this to say: “I think Patrick Peterson is as dominant a player at his position as I’ve seen.”

Stay tuned, because we may see the Tigers hand it off to him or even throw it to him this weekend against Tennessee.

And that’s when the fun begins.

I was gonna post this, but couldn't find the thread.

I doubt it happens for two reasons:

- Cramps. Les says that a cool day would enhance the chances we see him out there, but knowing Baton Rouge, there is no such thing as a cool day in any month other than January.

- Unless he can play QB, what really will he be able to do for our O that Shep, RR and Toliver couldn't?

I'd love to see him back there in a "Wild Pat" (I just made that up) with Shep in motion and Ridley next to him in the backfield, but that would be too effective for Gary Crowton's preferences.
