Suck it up dookies. You were blown out and to be honest you were lucky to even have made it past Texas. Barnes is douche but less of a douche than ratface. Regardless, dook fans should get used to this constant disappointment.

Ahhh, I knew when opening this thread Heels would have something to say about yet another Dook loss....These Dook teams certainly aren't the teams that I grew up watching.

People just need to accept that duke is a mediocre program that enjoyed a taste of what it's like to be elite for a small stretch. They have no history before 1991...and since 1994, they've only made it passed the sweet 16 3 times if I remember correctly, the last time being 2004. They haven't beat a top 4 team in tournament since 2001.

Mediocre? Thats a bit much don't you think? Duke certainly isn't the program it once was, but it certainly isn't mediocre.

I was glad to see Mizzou rep the Big 12 against Memphis. Hopefully, Kansas and Oklahoma can keep the good times rollin today. I have Syracuse and Michigan State moving on in my bracket, though.

I thought the games would be more exciting. Pitt-Xavier was probably the best game, but Pitt can usually kick it up another gear when they are trailing, but Xavier played very well and had a chance to win the game.

UConn-Purdue was garbage. UConn played bad, Purdue played worse. All we learned was that UConn on a bad day can beat Purdue on a bad day.

Duke-Villanova was a total mismatch. I figured Villanova would win, but Duke looked awful. They couldn't defend, they had no offense, and very little team play. They have two players, and one of them was in foul trouble an ineffective. Not very fun to watch.

Mizzou-Memphis was a surprise to me. Memphis had no half-court offense, and Mizzou ran their half-court offense to perfection. Memphis tried to make a game of it late, but there wasn't enough time left and they still couldn't really stop Mizzou from scoring. I thought the game would be much closer.

When will Dook realize that in order to win a National Championship and go deeper in the tourny that they need a legit post presence? It's no coincidence that they haven't won a NC since Shelden Williams was there.

The ACC has looked horrendous in the tournament this year. Its weird how poorly coached nearly all the teams are...even UNC and Duke. UNC doesn't play defense, and Duke has no concept of team offense. FSU's coach didn't even participate in team huddles. Wake Forest's coach just sat down on the floor all game.

Clemson lost to a Michigan team whose frontline included two 6-3 white guys. A huge upset considering how much more talented Clemson was. Wake Forest lost to the last time put in the tournament. Florida State lost to one of the weakest Wisconsin teams in years. Duke probably should have lost to Texas (but hey, Rick Barnes used to coach in the ACC), and looked putrid against Nova. Boston College got dominated by USC. Ouch.

LOL, at the "They've had 2 teams win national championships" comment as doing so since 1991 isn't a good thing....can you name another program that has done that? It seems you're raising the expectations of Duke to better fit your argument.

You should focus less on my "not the program it once was" comment and more on your "mediocre" comment. Duke is far from being a mediocre program. Absolutely it isn't the elite powerhouse it once was that was sure to be littered with the best players in the country, but by no means is it a mediocre program. Mediocre programs don't finish in the top 2 of the ACC and make it to the Sweet 16.

The issue is that Coach K has to realize that he can no longer go after the "4 year guys," but instead go after some of these elite McDonalds All-Americans, however, Duke wasn't built by doing that. So, I don't think Coach K's ego would allow it. Although they are making a hard push for John Wall who is the top PG in the 2009 class, but I've read that he's leaning towards Memphis.

Even with "no history" prior to 1991 they actually have more championships than UNC since Duke "history" began, UNC has 2 since 1991. Duke has 3.
