To say no one will ever surpass Jordan is truly ignorant. I'm not saying LeBron will do it, which he very well could, but someone one day will most definitely out-do Jordan. It's like saying no one will every break the career home-runs record, it's meant to be broken and players are meant to be surpassed.

Brings back memories of a discussion I had with my buddy, when he told me no quarterback would ever be considered better than Joe Montana... years later, Peyton Manning, to some experts, is considered the greatest quarterback of all-time. I forget, how many championships does Manning have?

My memory blows.

The difference with that comparison is in the NFL Montana has the rings, Manning has the numbers.

Jordan has the rings, the big time clutch shots, the 6 Final MVP's, but he also has the mammoth numbers (has the highest average points per a game, second all time in steals and what not ) and individual awards (5 regular season MVP's, DPOY, the billion All-NBA teams and All NBA Defence teams) to go along with them.

Bron Bron won't match Jordan for sheer numbers and awards and he sure as well won't match him in the rings, final MVPs and all those buzzer beaters in NBA Final moments.

When taking their positions into account, will his stats even match up with Kobes (without taking into account the rings), especially with Wade and Bosh taking away shots and opportunites?

Unless you agree with, Larry, that is - that the whole Miami thing will hold him back, which will never happen. He's one ring from erasing all of that, at least to those who matter. Haters will always be hating.

That's odd - I just heard three so-called ''experts'' comparing the two just last night. I can't seem to turn my TV on without hearing the shit. Again, if I could snap my fingers and make Lebron James vanish from the face of the earth, I'd snap my fingers three times, just to make sure it happened. But leaving Cleveland, the shithole of sports, will not hurt his chances of being one of the greatest players of all-time.... and I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it also hasn't, nor will it ever, prevent him from being mentioned in the same discussion as Michael Jordan - especially, if he, ugh, wins a couple championships.

HAHAH Nuk is completely right on this. LBJ doesnt need 6 rings to be above kobe here. LBJ came into the LG avg 20 and carrying a team, LBJ has had seasons where historically only 1-2 players ever had and hes under 30.

Kobe is great dont get me wrong, goes down top 2-3 SG ever, but LBJ is going to be greatest SF and will be considered above Kobe on all time lists.

I love me some James, and he is compared to Jordan, but that has more to do with the fact that the media and fans compare every elite wing player to Jordan. James will certainly go down as probably the greatest SF ever, but he'll never be put on the pedestal that Jordan is placed on, because of perception.

James certainly has the talent and when he retires should have the stats and championships...much like Kobe, but with the move to Miami the perception is that he going to a stacked team. The thing that makes Jordan's aura so great is that the perception is that he was the lead guy on 6 championships squads, has the MVP's, clearly was the best player and has the big game moments that we all know and have seen. The issue with James right now is that it appears as if he's going to play the Magic Johnson role which means at times is going to appear to take a supporting role, which Jordan never did. Right now James is the best player in the league, Wade is probably #3 and Bosh is in the top 10...Jordan never played with 2 of the top 10 best players in the league.

In order for James to be put on Jordan's level he's going to have to win multiple championships (I'd say at least 5 including a few without Wade) and do so while having the big game moments that we all expect from our all-time greats. Kobe has always been compared to Jordan, but was never given the respect until he won championships without Shaq.....the same argument will be made about James with Wade.
