I mean, if you want to put superbowls on the back of Quarterbacks, I guess Terry Bradshaw blows everyone away, with 4 superbowls... and now that argument starts to fall to shit, because we know Terry Bradshaw didn't do it by himself, he had the Steel Curtain backing his ass up, just like Tom Brady had those nasty, veteran defensive players backing his ass up, to bad Manning never had that.

Peyton Manning is textbook on how the Quarterback Position is meant to be played, when people teach their kids how to play, they are going to teach them the form of peyton manning, because the man is technically sound of everything a Quarterback is supposed to be, the mans football intellegence is matched by NO ONE currently in the NFL, Tom Brady doesn't go up and pick apart a defense, in his great year, he went up, and said HUT!. thats it, then he threw a deep ball to Moss, and Moss would catch the ball with one hand over 2 defenders twice in one game.

truth is, Brady stole Moss's MVP title two years ago. that team was nothing without Moss, they won 11 games with a QB that hadn't started a game since High School, and after 4 or 5 games in the season, the kid caught fire, because the New England Patriot Offense doesn't rely on Great Quarterback play to function, there are so many weapons that any decent - good QB can get in there and put up numbers.

Harrison for years killed you for 10-20 yards and if you fucked up and decided to bring down a safety he'd hurt you deep. you can put a safety over the top on Moss along with a corner playing man and he'll still beat you deep. but nah, thats just great QB play.

I wonder how many rings Manning would have if his defense was a HOF defense like Brady had during his superbowl years.

christ, those guys were never BAD...

no, they weren't anything special, but they weren't bad, they were average. just like the patriot offense.

which is why I pointed out, great defenses and average offenses usually win a lot of games, and most superbowl teams have an average offense and a great defense. this years superbowl team is a perfect example, last years superbowl team is a perfect example also.

the point of putting moss in the equation was to point out Brady's 50 TD year, even with the most explosive offense in NFL history, it still took him 81 attempts and throwing deep balls in week 17 to beat what Manning did while he was sitting on the bench in the last few weeks of the season.

in the only comparable year I can really see, Brady had a BETTER offense, the BEST offense to ever walk on an NFL football field, and it still took him 81 attempts and deep balls to moss in the last game of the season to break it.

and even with the greatest offense in NFL history, he still couldn't break Manning's record for the highest Passer Rating in NFL single season history.

Let me break down everything that I've learned from this thread.

1. Tom Brady only had one good season.

2. Tom Brady only won 3 super bowls because of Randy Moss, who only got to NE in 2007.

3. Peyton Manning is better, because Peyton Manning won the MVP in 2008, where he lost in the first round of the playoffs... While Tom Brady had a season back in 2004 equal to Manning's 2008 season, where he lead his team to a super bowl victory.

4. Tom Brady ''stole'' Randy Moss' MVP, because ''any quarterback can drop back and throw deep.'' Even though Randy Moss' 2008 numbers dropped, because Matt Cassel obviously didn't quite understand how easy it is, to get Randy Moss 98 receptions for 23 TDs.

That's exactly what I said a couple pages back. The Patriot coaching staff has been shrouded by the fact that Tom Brady is the quarterback and they have had a 'solid' defense for years.

Just look at some of these coaches that have left New England to pursue their own careers, basically all of them would have been better off staying in New England. Romeo Crennel since = lol, Charlie Weis since = LOL, and Eric Mangini hasn't done too too bad.

mangini did fine, favre blew it for him really he single handedly lost those last few games, and weis and crennel went to rebuilding situations and just didnt get the backing from their front offices to do what they wanted...Belicheck is the man behind the mask so to speak, he develops gameplans that get defense on their toes...a team like the Pats run screens roughly 75% of the time they pass, so the deep ball has always been there

yes that is very true man. Bill has seemed to put all his energy into the offense in the last few seasons while the defense rebuilds.

I dont see why it is such a problem to people that Welker excels at YAC and Moss gets deep balls. Its wat they do, u aint gonna lauch it deep to Welker because thats not wat he does. I just dont see why any QB wouldn't exploit their strengths.

Tom Brady's Average Attempts per season is 521.85
Peyton Manning's average Attempts per season is 541.8
That is 20 more attempts per season that Peyton has then Brady. So all the Brady throws more than Manning theory is discredited.

Peyton Manning averages 30.27 TD per season
Tom Brady averages 28.14 TD per season
imagine if Brady averaged 20 more pass attempts per season

Peyton Manning has had a hall of fame receiver on his team his whole career, a what could be a future hall of fame receiver on his team in Reggie Wayne, a top 5 TE, and he had one of the best RB at the time in Edgerrin James.

Tom Brady just recently got a Hall of Fame Receiver. He never had that dominate sure thing receiver that Peyton had in Marvin and Wayne. Tom Brady only had great RB once in his career and that was in 04. Also every receiver has done shit once they left NE. Deion Branch is one of the most overrated players in the league, David Patten has only had one season over 700 yards since, and David Givens, I dont think he is even on a team now.

Now take what you want from this. Just dont bring up bull shit about the system or any of that other stuff. If it was the system then Matt Cassel would of went 16-0 in the regular season and every team would run the offense the patriots run. And dont say "well Cassel didnt have time to prepare with the team cause he had no chemistry becasue when Moss came to NE he didnt play in the pre season that year and Brady and Moss' chemistry seemed perfect.

BTW. Some of you seem to think I said Manning sucks when I have said I like him and that I love to watch him play.

Wow read a post? Userpik said brady threw more in his RECORD SEASON not every season , just the record season. Tom Brady didnt have hof wrs NO but he had a defense 10x better than indy ever had. Matt Cassel came out of high school (0 college starts) and went 11-5. The Patroits system is perfect for qbs right now , Tom Brady goes and if the current system is in place the next guy will do well and so on.

And im gonna say this again , if its all about wins , why isint Otto Graham (10 championship games in 10 season , won 7 of them) or Terry Bradshaw the best ever qbs to play the game. Brady has good TD to INT ratios because the majority of his passes are screens and It is a great system, no team will go 16-0 every year, and look at the ridiculous injuries the Pats had this year...put Thomas, Harrison, Maroney in and thats only naming 3 players off the top of the head and the Pats would of EASILY gone over 11-5, Brady wont come back and go 16-0,15-1,14-2 or even 13-3 for that matter unless the team is somewhat healthy...

And Archer is 100% right the pats defense was so much better then any of Mannings, which is why Brady has rings, he didnt single handedly win those, that great defense stopped some of the best offenses to play the game...St.Louis was redunkulous, Philly with T.O. and McNabb in their prime, and Carolina with a rushing attack that was murdering people...the DEFENSE stopped that, DEFENSE wins championships, not quarterbacks its a team thing and since brady started playing the Patriots year in and year out have had the better overall team, not because of Brady either
