Effective Aggressiveness.
This is determined as the fighter showing most effort to win. It is of no use to simply be aggressive. The fighter’s effort must be effective effort.

Effective Technique.
This area includes Striking, Clinch Work, Takedowns, Submission attempts, Transitioning, and Positioning.

Cage/ Ring Control. This is assessed by determining which fighter has used the fighting area to his / her advantage the most.

Defence / Escapes.
This area includes avoiding and blocking of strikes, reversals from pins and mount, escapes from submissions i.e. transitioning to avoid a submission, etc. etc.

Effective is the key word

Condit didn't succumb to Diaz's trolling and stuck to his gameplan.

come on man just doing alittle trolling of my own, my point stands though. if 3 judges looked at that fight and saw the guy on his bike the first 3 rounds winning ... they need to look at how the score these things.

lets call a spade a spade what were looking at is a fight and who one.

I gave Round 1 to Diaz, Round 2 was a draw (edge it to Diaz in hindsight), Round 3 & 4 to Condit and Round 5 you could argue either way since Condit was winning the stand up while Diaz took his back and threatened with subs. I gave the nod in that round to Condit.

As much as Diaz was walking forward and pushed the pace, he never adapted to Condit's movement and kept waiting for Condit to engage. I was waiting for Diaz's pace to pick up in typical fashion, but it never happened because Condit took advantage of Diaz's plodding footwork and got out of the way. In the middle of the third round is where things started to get away from him because Condit finally found his groove before Diaz.

Im with you Shogun I kept waiting for Diaz to go full force and he just looked hesitant in the middle rounds. He never adapted and cut Condit off, he just went in threw a few punches and watched Condit circle away...He never once just went after him full boar

I had 5 being 50/50 edge to Diaz for the take down 4th Condit and the fist two firmly Daiz. there is no way thats a 49-46 fight let alone 2 out of 3, and if it is the sport is not what it promotes itself as

In the 3rd and 4th Diaz didnt land very man effective strikes though, hell in the 4th or 5th Diaz was just throwing weak kicks didnt even look like he wanted to be in there.

I gave 3, 4, and 5 to Condit. He executed his gameplan and Nick did not.

I gave 1,2,5 to Diaz and possibly the 3rd. I thought 1 and 2 were pretty obvious, and I gave Diaz the 5th because he had the only dominant position in the entire fight. The 3rd was very close...could have gone to either guy. Highway robbery.

No way was it a highway robbery.

Only definitive rounds were 3 & 4 for Condit. Nick could do nothing.

1 & 2 & 5 were all close and I had them for Diaz (or was it 1/2 Diaz, 5 Condit? Forgot lol). They could have gone either way though, they were that close.

I think Condit won the fight. I wasn't shocked by the UD. Condit stuck to a fantastic gameplan. Diaz will never slow down his pace, so, Carlos just pounded him with kicks to the leg to soften him up and then started engaging in rounds 4 & 5.

You could see Diaz getting frustrated and pissed. He wanted Carlos to stand and brawl. Credit to Carlos for not taking the bait. Shame on Diaz for not adjusting. Carlos kept spinning away from the cage with the same type of rhythm. Diaz, or his corner, should have noticed that and adjusted properly.

None of this really matters anyway. Condit won't be GSP and I doubt he takes another fight before getting his shot at GSP as well.

Also, a fast, high moevement guy with leg kicks could decision Nick, but thats not Carlos, there really isnt even a WW out there that fights like that anyway

I didnt think it was very close either. All 3 judges had Condit, so it couldnt been that close.

I just feel like Condit was very smart, and Diaz didnt like that. He kept talking, but as I said last night, If he spent as, much time punching as he did talking it could have been different.

I hate stupidity in all sports, and Diaz was stupid. Condit made it very obvious what he was going to do from the bell of the 1st round. Diaz did ZERO to counter that and lost.

All this loss does for Diaz is push back his inevitable defeat to GSP after Condit loses.
