No he was drowning, electrocuting, shooting, beating dogs to death. Some how you don't see that as sociopathic? And most dog fighters do stalk the streets looking for prey, and use/torture those dogs in the ring for training purposes.

Weeping into my pillow at my parents' house with two Vick posters hanging above me. After hearing about it every day for 10 hours a day I insulated myself from the story at some point, because you could not escape it anywhere you turned if you lived in Atlanta.

It's not pointless. Torture is never normal, no matter the environment. Like I said, you and FT have a good point of environment and normal for things that have no malicious intent, like illegal car racing. There is nothing NORMAL about torture.

Normal in the sense of dogfighting. The essence of dogfighting is having the meanest most aggressive dog in order to win the fight. I'm not excusing the act of torture, but instead trying to explain to you that the torture of the animals is a necessary evil in the practice of dogfighting.

In the grand scheme of things its understandable that torturing animals isn't normal; however your and Larry's assertion that torturing by means of dogfighting is a sign of greater issues to come isn't entirely true.

Kids who torture animals for fun generally have issues, because there really is no basis or means to an end in, in what they do. These types of people take joy in seeing animals suffer. However, most dogfighters who torture animals are doing so for the sole purpose of competition. I understand torturing animals is a bad thing, but as sad as it sounds this is a reality of of the dogfighting culture.

It goes beyond "It's a part of dog fighting". It takes a certain kind of person to be able to do such malicious things. To say, "It's just a part of dog fighting" is trying to justify something that is unjustifiable. That goes with the immoral people trying to justify their immoral answers to moral questions.

If he had the mental makeup to torture dogs, and it's proven he has, there is no reason to think he couldn't/wouldn't do it again, and he shouldn't have one.
