How is it irrelevant when the purpose of the dogs getting tortured was due to dogfighting? You're making it seem as if they're just going out torturing them for the fun of it, which isn't true for the majority of dogfighting cases. In the process of dogfighting the electrocution, hanging, drowning and beating them to death is the end result of a dog that doesn't win. The reason losing dogs are handled this way is because they're obviously too vicious to remain in society as pets. Dogfighters obviously kill animals in inhuman ways, because its not as if they could take the animal to the local SPCA or animal control office.

They are two seperate issues under the umbrella of dogfighting. If they stop dogfighitng they stop having to kill animals in inhumane ways. The killing of the animals is secondary to the actual dogfighting. Killing the animals really isn't even an issue for most, as they aren't seen as anything but a product. The people who engage in dogfighting aren't too concerned with giving a viscious and unstable dog a proper and humane death.

Some just put a gun to their head, some electocute them, some poison, while others let the dog die in the battle, etc. The humane way would be to perform euthanasia as a vet would, but its not as if these types of people could obtain the necessary materials, have the money or have the sophistication to perform such task. So, when you're in the backwoods without the determined "humane" methods generally, the best way is the most silent way as to avoid being detected.

I agree with ralaw. I don't think Vick is going to have uncontrollable urges to electrocute or strangle his pet dog.

The inhumane dispatching of the animals does show a fucked up mentality, but it was at its core a byproduct of the dog fighting ring that Vick was operating.
