But I never liked the Spags hire. I wanted Gruden. On BIgWill's hard drive, you will find my quotes on MM begging for the Rams to not hire Spags.

Now a bunch of big name coaches are on the market, and the Rams will waste 3 years with this guy.

I hope he proves me wrong, but I just dont see it. He was cheap, and you get what you pay for.

Those big name coaches also wouldn't touch St. Louis with a ten foot pole. They're sort of like a big named coach in college football/basketball.. they have the ability to pick and choose what great jobs they want.. they don't have anything to prove.

A team like the Raiders, the Rams, the Lions.. those teams HAVE to hire the up and coming assistant .. that's their best shot at a turn around.

Sucks but it's true. A team like San Diego, Washington, Dallas.. they will all have talent in place to lure a Gruden out of a cozy MNF gig. Or a Holmgren. Or a Shanahan. Or a Cowher. Not the Rams, when arguably your most reliable player is a punter/safety that wants out ASAFP.

Bettis was fat, out of shape, mouthing off, and barely averaging 3.0 per carry when the Rams shipped him out.

If anything, that trade worked out for all parties. Bettis got motivated and revived his career, and the Rams ended up with Faulk and a SB a few years later.

I agree, it's still early. I haven't given up on Long yet. But 19 games into his professional career he has been less than impressive.

And I would hate to see Jackson go. He is my favorite player and the best player on the Rams by far. However, by the time the Rams turn this thing around Jackson will be late 20's early 30's, and we all know what that means for running backs.

Mike Martz developed Trent Green, an 8th round pick. Kurt Warner, Arena League quarterback and Marc Bulger, 6th round pick.

He drafted wide receivers Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald in the third and fourth round.

He is a good coach and would easily turn that offense around and easily find weapons. He should've never been fired in the first place.

Because nobody has any patience with him. He spent one year with Detroit and one year with the 49ers. A great offense doesn't just fall out of the sky and it's much easier when your the head coach too and you get to make some of the personnel decisions.

This is what kills me about Rams fans. Bulger is not, and never was, the problem. You can't complete passes from your back.

Everyone knows what Bulger accomplished from 2002-2006. Keep him upright, give him weapons, and he takes you to the playoffs and goes to Pro Bowls.

Bulger was having a very efficient season when he went down. 0 INT's. He was playing within the shitty vanilla system. I don;t know what fans want out of a guy with no WR's, in an offense that never throws the ball further than 10 yards, all while getting smacked in the mouth every snap.

the problem with bulger is that he takes the sack he takes way too long with his reads and gets happy feet in the backfield

I was thinking about this this weekend. Why not trade Jackson? OBV rams are rebuilding and Jackson is a beast right now. This team has nothing but youth. Chris Long is on the road to Bustville, carriker is already there. Jason Smith lets see what happens but the man plays RT when he is a LT. Is Alex barron that good now or is SMith not as good?

The DBs seem solid and young, reminds me of kyle lyle and todd light, LBs might be good if laurinitis is solid, DLine is starting to be atrocious.

Trade Jackson for some draft picks.

the key to turning a team around when it gets this bad is to start from the inside, and i mean o-line/dline not staff wise. look at the jets, they just now added a top drafted qb and they already had built an oline that includes fergueson, mangold and faneca.

the reason that the browns fans are screaming for mangini's head is he has been king numb nuts from day one. he even painted over a Jim Brown mural claiming he doesnt want to look at the past. Spags needs a chance, although what W2B has pointed out about his dealing with the wr corps is not a good sign at all. IDK who the GM is right now, but if he not a complete idiot he can rebuild this team quickly by trading jackson for picks or players and being smart with the draft (IE not drafting a start qb or wide out before building an o-line and a defense).
