Falcons offense held to 150 yards in beat down

Saluki and True Frosh Booker combined for 4 sacks

True Frosh Bryan Williams forces an incompletion

This loss could possibly set the tone for an average to below average season for Coach Shola. His team not only was held offensively to 150 yards, but they also lose key players for a couple weeks. Wide Receiver Mario Jones is out for 2 weeks with a strained shoulder and LB Gary Pearson is out for 3 weeks with Back Spasms. These are huge hits to both offense and defense for the Falcons.

The only good coming from this game is probably the play out of each starting true freshman. Bryan Williams at RE was a force stopping the ball carrier 4 times and also causing 2 incompletions as he hit the QB. Charles Booker at DT showed why he was a 3 star recruit with 2 sacks and 5 tackles. Rookie RT Doug Bennett allowed no Sacks and pancaked a defender.

Next week will almost 100% be a loss. Can they pull off the upset of the century, though?

    Falcons Stats:
    Offense
Airik Aldridge. QB- 6/22, 70 yards, 3 INT
Kyle Hadley, HB- 11 rushes for 22 yards
Craig Simmons, WR- 2 receptions for 24 yards

    Defense
Shane Booker, DT- 5 tackles, 2 FL, 2 Sacks
VSN Saluki, LE- 5 tackles, 2 FL, 2 Sacks
    Bryan Williams, RE- 4 tackles

Miami defense too fast for Falcons

Raw Blung came in the game in the 2nd quarter and did very well

Craig Simmons shows why he is the star receiver with this TD catch

For the first quarter it looked as if Daytona State had an upset in them. In the 2nd, though, Miami's speedy defense just did everything. They injured starting QB Airik Aldridge and HB Kyle Hadley for an unknown amount of time and they picked off 3 of his passes for TD's.

In the 3rd quarter Daytona State came firing back with 15 points trying hopelessly to pull back within a touchdown. Those dreams were shot down in the 4th quarter when Miami put up 17 points.

Hopefully when North Texas rolls into Daytona Beach the Falcons can take their aggression out on them with a huge win.

            Falcons Stats:
            Offense
Raw Blung, QB- 9/13, 181 yards, 2 TD
Craig Simmons, WR- 4 receptions for 84 yards, TD
Josh Krueger, TE- 3 receptions for 41 yards

            Defense
Nick Sigona, MLB- 7 tackles, 2 FL
            Dexter McPherson, CB- 9 tackles
            Bryan Williams, RE- 4 tackles

Falcons stun North Texas on last second GW TD!

Kyle Hadley scores with 9 seconds remaining

FS Homer Olsen saves the game with this tackle at the one

VSN Saluki ended the game with 3 sacks!

A close game throughout finally ended with a Kyle Hadley TD run with 9 seconds left! The Falcons kicked off to an awaiting Mean Green player who fair caught. Mean Green's QB bombed it down field to a wide open WR who ran all the way to the 2 yard line before getting smashed by Homer Olsen! He saved the game for the Falcons with his brutal hit at the one.

With the win, though, came a price. Nick Sigona the all american MLB is out for 2 weeks with a strained pectoral. QB Airik Aldridge and Kyle Hadley were cleared to play this game ad did just that. Aldridge posted a nice game with the majority of his incompletions coming from drops. Kyle Hadley, whom many predicted would be in a sophmore slump, showed just how lethal he can be.

True Freshman shined in this game making most of the big plays. Bryan Williams at RE, Tyree Wright at backup SS, Doug Bennett at RT all made huge plays for their team. Tyree Wright who had alot of playing time this game because of a defensive playbook switch, racked up 10 tackles and a sack. Doug Bennett man handled every defender who he faced and did not allow a sack. Bryan Williams continues to impress as he got to the QB numerous times by forces incompletions and sacks.

Aldridge and company will travel to Syracuse for game number 4 and hope to pull out a victory.

                        Falcons Stats:
                        Offense
Airik Aldridge, QB- 18/39, 281 yards, 1 TD 2 INT, Rushing TD
Craig Simmons, WR- 5 receptions for 105 yards
Scott Mescui, WR- 3 receptions for 80 yards, 1 TD
Kyle Hadley, HB- 20 attempts for 148 yards, 1 TD

                        Defense
VSN Saluki, LE- 4 tackles, 3 FL, 3 Sacks
Tyree Wright, SS- 10 tackles, 1 FL, Sack
Jag Quincey, SS- 11 Tackles, 1 FL
Brian Shwayzed, CB- 9 tackles, 1 FL
                        Homer Olsen, FS- 8 tackles
                        Jay Rock, CB- 8 tackles
                        Shaun Black, ROLB- 8 tackles
Bryan Williams, RE- 6 tackles, 3 FL, Sack
