Indiana Lands More Recruits, Sets School Record for Regular-Season Recruits
Bloomington, IN - At Indiana's last home game, two recruits committed to the Hoosiers last year: Alex Leonard and Drew Gray, both three-star linebackers. With those recruits' commitments, Indiana set an all-time school record for most commitments received in the regular season.
"I can't believe I actually set a coaching record," said Anthony Thompson. "I know that I used to be an amazing running back, but I didn't think I'd make a good coach too."
Punter Chris Hagerup, on the other hand, wasn't as surprised as the coach. "Considering how well we've done this season, I'm surprised we don't have even more recruits," he said. "Any player's dream is to be recruited by an up-start team, so that when you're a junior or senior they're one of the top teams in the country. I can't wait to see what Thompson does to this program."
Added Deleon Eskridge, the transfer from Minnesota who has been red shirted this season. "I was unhappy at Minnesota, and I knew that I could be starting at most other Division 1 colleges. Knowing that, I still picked Indiana because of the fact that they're on the rise. [When I am a senior] I will be on one of the top teams in the country."
Onto the actual recruits. Alex Leonard and Drew Gray, both linebackers from Minneapolis, Minnesota, were best friends in high school. "We did everything together," said Leonard. "We could not be split apart. Wherever I was, Drew was there. Wherever he was, I was there." While in school they decided they should go to college together. "We knew we would both play college ball, so why not play for the same school?" said Gray. After looking at their scholarship offers, they noticed that the only school that recruited both of them was Indiana University.
They both prefer to play in a run defense, and their skills favor playing rush defense. Their fast, hit the holes quickly, and are great at making tackles. Likewise, they lack the ability to read the quarterback's eyes and drop back into coverage, which is their only weakness.
Thompson hopes to keep up his great recruiting this weekend, as a handful of recruits are making an on-campus visit.

Impressive victory over Purdue..gotta love the overtime classics. Chester has got to improve that completion percentage and cut back on the interceptions. But a win is a win. Good job!

definitely. of course, 2 of the 3 interceptions came in the last minute, so u subtract those and it's a 22-6 victory with him throwing for 2 tds and 1 int, which is good. thanks for checkin in

Indiana Wins Game, Keeps Purdue from Bowl Eligibility
Bloomington, IN - For the second year in a row, Indiana ended it's regular season by winning the Old Oaken Bucket Game versus Purdue. And for the second year in a row, Indiana ends Purdue's season at 5-7, 1 game away from bowl eligibility.
"There is almost no greater feeling than beating a rival," said kicker Mitch Ewald, who's 5 field goals in this game were the main reason that Indiana won. "But when you intervene with them making it to a bowl game? That is the greatest moment of a college athlete's career.
The game shouldn't have been this close, to be honest. Ahead 22-6 with just over a minute to go, Jammone Chester threw 2 straight interceptions to tie the game as regulation ended. "They definitely heard a mouthful from me," chuckled head coach Anthony Thompson. "I yelled at them the entire break between overtime and the 4th quarter."
Whatever Thompson did though, it seemed to work pretty well. In just three plays, Indiana took the ball from 25 yards out into the end zone to take a 29-22 lead. "I thought this would be going on forever," said Purdue quarterback Chris Bennett disappointingly. "I love games that go on for a long time. Instead, on my first play, I single-handedly end the game with a terrible."
Right on the money, Bennett. On the first play of Purdue's offensive possession, he threw a terrible pass which was intercepted by Tyler Replogle. "I just stuck my hands out and felt the football hit them," he said after the game. "I still can't believe that I actually caught the pass. To win the game. Unbelievable."
Indiana gets a 2 week break, and then will find out their fate in a bowl game.

I love Overtime games, and there is nothing better than scoring and stopping them or visa versa!
On the contrary, I hate overtimes. I get so nervous even though it's only a damn video game. It's a huge relief to me when it's over. Thanks for checking in.
