Coach Thompson Receives Commitments from Butler and Harvey
Bloomington, IN - Coach Thompson 10 hours a week dedicated to recruiting high school athletes is paying off, as he landed 2 more recruits today to move his total up to 3.
Steven Butler, a 6'2 234 pound Defensive End from Jasper, Indiana, is the best player Indiana targeted this year. A four star recruit, he was ranked #81 on Rivals.com Top 100 High School Football Players. "I knew that Coach Thompson would be the right coach for me," he said after making his verbal commitment. "I want to go to the NFL, and with his NFL experience, I feel I'll have the best shot of making it under his tutoring." This kid could use some SCHOOL tutoring, as his 2.1 GPA worried scouts across the country.
Their other incoming freshman, Malcolm Harvey, is a 3 star Outside Linebacker from Albion, Michigan. At 6'3 and 220 pounds, he is a beast at stopping the run. "Scouts had me labeled as one of the top run-stopping defenders in the country," he told us, "but my awful pass defense knocked me down 2 stars. I could have been a freakin 5 star!"
With 3 recruits under his belt, Thompson hopes to get more recruits this week, as 6 players are visiting to watch IU take on Illinois.
