Malcolm Kelly experienced no problems with his surgically repaired knee during OTAs the past two weeks.

"It felt good," Kelly said. "It didn't swell, and it's not even aching. I knew when I left my feet for the first time I was somewhat close to where I needed to be." Coach Jim Zorn said he expects Kelly to be at full strength for training camp.

Redskins signed sixth-round LB Robert Henson to a multi-year contract.

Undersized at 6'0/230, Henson was overshadowed at TCU by teammates Stephen Hodge and Jason Phillips. He isn't ready to compete for time at linebacker, but he could contribute on special teams

        Redskins released LB Tyson Smith.

Smith will try to catch on elsewhere as a special teamer.

Redskins signed seventh-round WR Marko Mitchell to a multi-year contract.

Mitchell emerged as a big-play threat in Nevada's pistol-spread offense last season, and he has the size (6'4/218) to create mismatches as he develops as a pro. Now that James Thrash is gone, Mitchell has a decent shot to nail down fifth-receiver duties this summer.

Free agent WR D.J. Hackett has a workout scheduled with the Bucs on Tuesday.

Hackett has already tried out for the Ravens and Redskins this offseason, with the Redskins retaining interest. The Bucs have been linked to several veteran receivers, including Plaxico Burress and Marvin Harrison.

Multiple sources have advised profootballtalk.com that Clinton Portis' attitude is becoming a problem for coach Jim Zorn.

"Portis totally has no regard for [Zorn]," said one source. "He thinks he’s above everyone." Portis, who has plenty of sway with ownership, was heavily critical of Zorn in a December radio interview late last season. Due to the star runner's loaded contract, Zorn's hands are pretty much tied.

Clinton Portis denies a Profootballtalk.com report that his attitude has become problematic for Redskins coach Jim Zorn.

"How this story came about, I have no idea," Portis said. "There's no beef between me and Coach Zorn. We're on good terms." Portis attended most of the Skins' spring OTAs and will be relied on heavily again this year. Whether he can hold up after his late-season 2008 breakdown remains to be seen

Devin Thomas overcame his spring hamstring injury to participate fully in June Organized Team Activities.

Thomas says he got "a lot of reps with the first team" and made it through healthy. The Skins are hoping Thomas will supplant Antwaan Randle-El as a starter, allowing ARE to move to the slot. Thomas has more upside outside

Ladell Betts is expected to be "much more involved" as a ball carrier for the Redskins this season, according to the Washington Post.

We often hear this about Betts in offseasons, but his yards per carry average has dropped in each of the last two years and he saw only 83 touches in 2008. He's a fine Clinton Portis handcuff, but don't expect stand-alone value

In an interview with Sirius NFL Radio's Adam Schein, Albert Haynesworth revealed that he left money on the table from the Bucs to sign with the Redskins.

"They offered me a whole lot more, and even with their tax situation, it could have been 20 percent more," said Haynesworth. When asked why he would choose the Redskins, Haynesworth said the 'Skins have "a lot of pieces together" plus the D.C. market. The Bucs did have a surfeit of cap space, but Haynesworth's perspective tends to be skewed.

Todd Collins would reportedly be a candidate for release if he loses the No. 2 quarterback job to Colt Brennan this summer.

Collins is set to make $3 million, which is cost prohibitive in a third quarterback. The Redskins signed Mizzou's Chase Daniel as an undrafted free agent, and his fate is tied to Brennan beating out Collins.

Supplemental Draft prospect Jeremy Jarmon ran a 4.76 forty-yard dash at the Kentucky Pro Day before April's draft.

It's an outstanding time considering Jarmon weighed in at 6'3/280. He'll likely want to be a shade lighter for his July 9 personal Pro Day. Other prospects for the July 16 Supplemental Draft include Florida State WR Corey Surrency and Central Michigan OT Joe McMahon. Surrency is having a Pro Day on June 30.

Brian Orakpo remains penciled in as the starting SAM linebacker for the Redskins, according to beat writer Paul Tenorio.

There had been doubts about the decision to have a college end transfer to linebacker in a 4-3 defense, but the 'Skins are following through with the plan. Orakpo will stay at linebacker on early downs and move to defensive end in obvious passing situations.

Redskins third-round CB Kevin Barnes is expected to battle Fred Smoot for the nickelback role.

Barnes impressed with his ball skills during OTAs, leading the defensive backs in interceptions. Smoot fell all the way to fourth on the depth chart last season but moved up after the release of Shawn Springs.

Redskins offensive line coach Joe Bugel has noticed a "night and day" change in 2008 third-round pick Chad Rinehart.

Rinehart gave Washington nothing as a rookie, but the team hopes he'll provide depth at guard. The Skins have done poorly developing their offensive line draft picks of late. There was concern last year that Rinehart would bust, but Bugel now says "he's going to be a real good football player for us."
