Well, I'm not going to repeat points already made by Brnt regarding Skyrim. I doubt you could find it used for 40 bucks for a week around Christmas.
And the POINT that I'm proving that you seem to keep missing, or at least ignoring, is that you don't HAVE to buy ANYTHING from Microsoft. If they go full digital and jack their prices up to some obnoxious level, you simply don't have to purchase their products. What are you missing here? Having physical discs that you can sell is irrelevant. If the prices are too high, people won't buy. It's not a hard concept. I would argue that is why the prices thus far HAVEN'T been too high on something like Steam, much more so than Steam trying to compete with the used game market.

From all the reports I'm reading the console wasn't going to be all digital, but instead use SD cards and also be able to download games. I would be all for that, since from what I've read, SD cards are superior to using discs.

Comparing 8 tracks to cd's is not the same thing. Not to mention that you completely skipped over cassettes. The point being is that with digital you don't own shit. You just own the right to play something. Especially in this economy, when people spend their hard earned money they want something they can hold in their hands.

I'm glad you don't work for MS and let's hope that the ones that do don't have that mentality. You do know the average gamer is like 28, right? That means there are shit tons of gamers in their 30's and 40's. If MS "doesn't care" about that demographic then they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I hope they do go that route and I'll laugh maniacally as they crash and burn.

Sorry bro, you're never going to convince me that it is as hard as you or some podcast geek makes it sound. Is it not always super intuitive? No. But I can still find everything that I want or need with very little problem. I never saw the need in getting worked up about how intuitive something is. That's probably why I hate Apple and Apple products.

That's an entirely different subject but I think I pretty much proved that apparently some content shows up on the dashboard for some people an dnot others. Which explains why sometimes I can't find something and you guys have no problems. In the case of the Konami publisher sale last week there were no ads or anything on my dash for it but when I manually searched each game they showed the sale price. This is more on topic, so we should run with this. I don't doubt this fact, but I bet if the internet were as prevalent when CDs were on the way out and MP3s were on the way in, reactions would be similar. People do like physical things, but people do adapt, and usually in favor of the more customer friendly format. Physical discs in this case are not only the least customer friendly prospect (at least, from the "collector" perspective), but they're also the least developer friendly.

I buy physical music, but only on vinyl because I enjoy the warmth and the novelty of it.

If I want a CD, I download it digitally and burn it to a blank CD. There's no difference in quality between the two.

dude...the comparison of 8 tracks to CDs is just to make the point that times change. With digital you do own shit, you own the license to that game. I own several digital downloads for the PC. its great because anytime i want to play them, its available for me to DL. i dont have to worry about losing a disc, or scratching a disc, or a disc read error.

i personally hate using a disc and welcome this new console. SD cards are 100 times better, faster and hold more storage than a disc. If we have it your way we would still be blowing out the teeth of our nintendo cartridges.

100% correct. SSD drives are AMAZING! I push the on button on my PC and it takes 12.3 seconds for it to load up everything. its so fast

The only thing I've bought from Gamestop in the past year is my 360 headset, Best Buy is MUCH better, especially with trade-ins.
