This clownshow doesn't reflect poorly on Pennsylvania State, it reflects poorly on Pennsylvania, the state.

The more I read about this story and all the morons involved in it, they seem to be one in the same on a lot of fronts.

I guess we'll find out. I can see some people aka the ones that work in the Athletic Department would see a guilty plea as a negative reflection on Penn State Athletics and the University. Not sure, I'd hope not, but judging by how a lot of PSU people have acted in response to this, it wouldn't surprise me. Shit someone drove by the courthouse two days ago and said "FREE SANDUSKY!".

If I had to guess, it was probably some wise ass kid pulling a prank.

Again, there is no way to make the athletic department or the admin look any worse. You say what you want about our reaction to Paternos role, but I think the attitude towards Sandusky is the same with psu and non psu people. I really have no idea where you are getting this idea that people associated with PSU have any inclination whatsoever to help this sick fuck walk away. Show me where he's gotten any support from anyone associated with this university since the charges were made public in November.

I think PSU people feel for Paterno and the position he was put in by Sandusky, and I think Sandusky for the most part is vilified and hated.

My concern about having a PSU jury (which is frankly unavoidable) is that it would be unfair to Sandusky. But if that's the case, good. He should live to 120 and rot in prison with painful cancer that doesnt manage to kill him.

Also, if this thread is to be understood: 1) if Sandusky wins his trial, PSU will be public enemy number 1 because there are people affiliated with PSU in the jury; and 2) if Sandusky is guilty, it will reflect poorly on the school so these jurors have an interest in trying to get him off. What? This sounds like a prosecutor's dream.

This isn't Law and Order. Just like in almost all cases like this, this battle will be won and lost by how well the prosecution brings their case. John Cusack isn't playing a conflicted PSU grad trying to sneak his way into the jury box to try and win one for the guy that no one at PSU likes. Is it a little silly how much the people are affiliated with PSU? In the traditional jury sense, yes. But it's also not insane to think that you can get 12 people from an area as oddly small yet big and secluded as State College and they would all have some sort of tie to PSU. I don't like it in the traditional sense, but I don't think it's unfair in the way that a lot of others are acting like it is.

Yes, of course I do. Read the thread to see my stance on the entire issue. I think everything in this reflects poorly on the University, more so if he's found guilty and EVEN more so if the feds go after him for bringing a kid to one of the PSU bowl games.

That's my concern, not just people who like Paterno, but rather half the jury has like direct positive ties to Sandusky (hired him, had him speak at commencement, worked with him, contributed to his organization, etc.). The main thing i'm concerned about is one of these clowns saying not guilty and letting that scumbag walk.

I'm not sure if there's anyone in the area that really support him, I'm not in that area or in the state so I really couldn't tell you but it only takes one moron to let this idiot walk.

What the hell are you talking about? Where do you see anywhere that states anyone one of those jurors were directly responsible for hiring him or speaking anywhere?

Aaaaaand even if they were, you would think these people didn't hire him as a football coach, have them speak at their commencement, or have them work in the athletic department knowing everything that was spelled out in the grand jury report. Maybe, just maybe these people would feel a bit betrayed and a little pissed off to be duped into giving him those things under the guise of not being some serial child molester.

But these people are morons, right? I'm sure you do a complete investigation into every single person associated with the charities you donate to. This is getting silly.

I'm not trying to say these people are going to have a bias, I'm just saying it looks really odd to have so many people so interconnected with the school on a case of this magnitude.

Juror No. 1 – A Walmart employee and the mother of two. She said she doesn't consume much news and thinks she can be fair in determining a verdict. She was the first person interviewed.

Juror No. 2 – A 24-year-old man who will attend Pennsylvania College of Technology this fall to study automotive technology. His father worked for Penn State for 30 years in the office of the physical plant.

Juror No. 3 – A middle-aged woman who has held Penn State football season tickets for 24 years. Her husband is a physician at the same medical group as John McQueary, whose son Mike McQueary is a key witness for the prosecution. She said she is a "casual" acquaintance of the elder McQueary. Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, initially tried to strike her from the jury pool. However, Sandusky convinced his attorney otherwise, saying "I think she can be fair."

Juror No. 4 – A male who has lived in State College for nine years. A Maryland native, he is an engineer and said he stopped following the case 10 weeks ago when he reached his "saturation level."

Juror No. 5 – A 2003 Penn State graduate who teaches physics and chemistry at Bellefonte Area High School. He has two sons and a daughter and teaches a summer program at Penn State. Amendola asked if he could be impartial given that he has two sons, and he replied yes.

Juror No. 6 – A female who works at a property company in State College. She said she doesn't consume much news. "I just heard about it," she said when asked what she knew about the case. "I didn't hear any details or anything specific."

Juror No. 7 – A Penn State senior and native of Centre County. He works at a Penn State athletic facility and knows Steve Turchetta, the Clinton County high school coach who hired Sandusky as a volunteer assistant. He came to the courthouse wearing a navy T-shirt that read "Penn State archery." His cousin played football at Penn State under Joe Paterno and his mother works in the State College Area School District.

Juror No. 8 – A retired Penn State soil science professor in the College of Agriculture. He reads the Centre Daily Times, the local newspaper, and has watched television reports about the case. He retired four years ago after teaching for 37 years.

Juror No. 9 – A female retired school bus driver who said she reads local newspapers. She said her job as a bus driver was to protect the kids. "I can't just see children hurt," she said.

Juror No. 10 – A middle-aged woman who is an administrative assistant in Penn State's College of Engineering. She has two daughters and four grandchildren.

Juror No. 11 – A dance teacher in Penn State's continuing education program and mother of a 6-year-old boy. She occasionally has conversations about the case with her husband, who is a media specialist at a transportation center at Penn State. She knows Kelly Hastings, a potential witness.

Juror No. 12 – A female Penn State professor for 24 years who had a professional relationship with former president Graham Spanier, but the two had no social interaction. She served on a committee for six years that met with Spanier and current Penn State President Rodney Erickson. She is the mother of two boys, ages 14 and 16.

Alternate Juror No. 1 – She is a 2007 Penn State graduate in the College of Health and Human Development and said she has been attending Nittany Lion football games for as long as she can remember. Sandusky spoke at her graduation but she doesn't remember what he spoke about.

Alternate Juror No. 2 – A middle-aged unmarried woman who doesn't have children and said she doesn't follow the news closely.

Alternate Juror No. 3 – A middle-aged Penn State graduate who frequently attends football games and works in Reading, Pa. He has two sons, ages 29 and 30. His wife is director of Upward Bound, a Penn State program designed to help high school students prepare for college.

Alternate Juror No. 4 – A woman in her 60s who said she doesn't trust media reports and firmly believes in innocent until proven guilty. She and her husband left State College when they were 19, but returned 42 years later. She has no Penn State connections.

It think it would be even more odd to find 12 people in State College that hasn't attended/worked at, or didn't know someone that attended/worked at PSU , or ever went to a PSU football game.

And I still haven't been given a good reason as to why that is a problem anyway. Try again and explain to me how anyone would be able to look at a well argued, rock solid case against a man who is accused of fucking little kids, and think a not guilty plea would be "doing a solid" for either the people or the university they have ties to?

I'm just as interested in seeing Sandusky rotting in jail as you are, maybe even moreso. I am very confident the jurors you are pointing out don't have any predisposition about his innocence, no matter what the reason is. In fact, I think it would be the other way around considering how his actions have directly affected the reputation of PSU and the other organizations these people are affiliated with, close or not.

Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, the two administraters who are respnsible for not going forward with the allegations, are on trial as we speak. Paterno is dead. Who else would you like to be put on trial, their secretaries? lol..

The one thing I will say though, I just read that Schultz and Curley will be invoking the 5th amendment and will not testify at the Snadusky trial. Fucking assholes. Doesn't really help the public opnion of the prior administration when you are still in cover your own ass mode, even after being presented with all the facts in the grand jury. I hope they get the most severe punishment the law allows and send those two lilly white yuppies to gen pop of the worst prison in the state. Disgrace.

I don't know, I think the grand jury report did a good job of identifying the people that either saw him in the act or who was given a first hand account. I don't think everyone who had a "high paying job" at PSU football dept during that time has something to add or are even responsible for said cover up. But, that seems to be the popular belief so :kanye:

Reading the testimony from victim "4" today made me sick.

The witness spoke calmly and firmly when questioned by McGettigan. Wearing a white shirt, dark tie and dark pants, he looked straight ahead at McGettigan during questioning. He gestured at times when asked to describe interactions with Sandusky.

"He would put his hand on my leg, basically like I was his girlfriend ... it freaked me out extremely bad," the man said, extending his right arm out and pushing it back and forth.

"I pushed it away ... after a little while, it would come right back. That drove me nuts," he said.

Instances in the shower, the man testified, escalated to the point where either Sandusky maneuvered himself so his head would be near the boy's genitals, or vice versa. The man testified that there were "a few occasions" where Sandusky ejaculated in the Penn State locker room showers.

Penn State University is going to get a hell of a hammer when this is all done. More and more this is turning into an institutional problem. Schultz had a private document and there's emails discussing issues with Sandusky in 2001 explaining a rationale for a cover up.

I did some digging. This woman also owns 'several' cats (actual number unknown), chain smokes, and is a huge fan of 'The Price is Right', although she strongly prefers Bob Barker to Drew Carey.
