I can't remember exactly, but wasn't Nog hurt or sick going into that fight? Unless I'm thinking of someone else I swear he was just getting over staff infection before his fight, so if that's the case we definitely can't start calling Nog washed up.

Its been mentioned a couple of times by other sources (including Dana White, I believe), but never confirmed by the fighter. But Nog seems like the type to refuse to make excuses. Did hear he was in hospital just a few weeks before the right, but who knows? The next fight should go a long way to showing where Nog really is at this point...

He looked fine against Herring beyond that head kick he took. He didn't look great against Sylvia, but that was mainly due to Sylvia's height, reach, and striking - the same problems he gives to a lot of opponents. And he still won after taking a bit of a beating, which is something Nog has done many many time against many many opponents.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nog is on the decline, just based off the batterings he's taken through his career. But I won't assume it unless he fails to impress in his next fight.

nog is on the decline, but he can still win big fights, he just is that type of guy, he has taken way to many beatings which is not common for top fighters, its usual big KO's or something like that, but Nogs chin has saved him so many times, but also probably hurt him in the long run because of sustained damage in fights

I remember him saying in 1 of the Fedor fights his left side of his body went numb after a big shot, the dude just has no quit in him

he could probably sub randy in there next fight and he could still catch the majority of fighters out there, he is just so slick for a HW

Nog is the 2nd greatest HW of all time

Vitor Belfort - Jorge Santiago added to Affliction 3

Middleweight Vitor Belfort will take on Jorge Santiago(Sengoku MW Champion) at Affliction 3: "Trilogy" on Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif.

MMAWeekly.com confirmed the match-up through sources close to the fight. It is expected to be on the event's main card.

Belfort took the bout following reports he would take on Gegard Mousasi at a catch-weight. Mousasi later confirmed he would face Renato "Babalu" Sobral on the clothing company turned fight promotion's third show.

An Affliction regular, Belfort last appeared at "Day of Reckoning," where he destroyed Team Quest original Matt Lindland in 37 seconds. Prior to that, he knocked out Terry Martin in the second round of the promotion's first show. Since his exit from the UFC in early 2005, he has gone 6-3, and maintains an overall record of 18-8.

Santiago, a mainstay of American Top Team, found great success after leaving the UFC in late 2006, winning fights for now-defunct Bodog, Strikeforce, and recently, Sengoku, where he's notched five straight victories. In his last appearance, he submitted top-ten middleweight Kazuo Misaki at Sengoku: No Ran.

Affliction 3 may not do good business, but the show quality should be sweet.

I have a feeling Josh Barnett could beat Fedor. The guy doesn't really have any weakness in him, awesome ground game and tough as nails.

He could beat Fedor, but so could have CroCop and Nog. My money would be on Fedor, but Barnett is the biggest challenge he has had since Pride (though AA was doing well)

I don't know that Barnett ever had it in there, but pretty sure he took the flying knee out of his arsenal.

I dont think anyone should say 'Fedor destroys Barnett', Barnett has many things Big Tim and AA dont have, for one, Barnett is smart, has only been KO'ed cleanly once and that was by Rizzo which would have KO'ed a prime Cabbage, lol, also Barnett is highly skilled on the ground, Tim and AA have no where near the ground game of Josh

Josh has decent stand up and a great ground game where I think he losses this fight is he still doesnt have great takedowns, if he could put Fedor on his back and keep him there he would give Fedor fits

If Josh could keep putting Fedor against the ropes and get him down, he has a chance

In the end, Josh will have to keep it standing because he wont be able to get Fedor down enough and Fedor will get multiple chances to t off on him with his speed and Barnett will lose, could be a decision, I dont see a blow out by Fedor which could happen, but I dont see it.
