The whole "Who is USF?" mentality was definitely prevalent in my workspace. My boss was flying out for the game and I warned him not to underestimate them because they had some speed and talent, and BJ Daniels is a play maker. He brushed that off.

I didn't brush them off and I was nervous as all hell before the game and told everyone I knew so...But that still doesn't change the fact that for all the speed and talent USF had they were out gained by twice as many yards and needed 5 turnovers by ND to win and I'd argue that 2-3 of those weren't even "caused" by USF but by Notre Dame.

USF is a solid team, I knew that but ND handed that game away for the most part.

My take was that ND came out of the gate absolutely firing. Cierre Wood was blasting through USF like nothing and they just looked stunned. USF looked like they thought were in over their heads.

Then that goal line fumble (the play could've been blown dead, but oh well - no sense making excuses). After that, I think the USF players realized that ND's team was just another football team. They don't have magical powers. Crist was playing like he was taking the game for granted. From my view it looked like ND's offense just assumed they'd be able to catch up.

It was so frustrating to watch them play like that and make such stupid mistakes. ND was ahead in all statistical categories except for the score and it was all those dumb turnovers.

On the bright side, the defense looked great. Hopefully this game can humble the team and they can win out from here (yeah right...). I'm not going to hold it against BK for getting pissed - I was getting mad and I was two time zones away.

take the game either way. ND moved the ball up and down the field on the USF only to turn the ball over what like 3 times inside the 10. SO in that respect who was lucky ND because USF couldnt put the ball in the fucking endzone and probably should have blown ND out OR was USF lucky ND didnt score because that game would have been over at half.

I was at Charlie Weis' fairwell party AKA the UConn loss. What a miserable game that was.

I think the Tulsa loss was as bad as any of those losses. Fucking Tulsa. Forget that they had 10 wins last year. They were tuning up by beating the likes of Tulane and UTEP. At least a shitty Syracuse team is getting beat by Big East schools and they probably have more than a handful of players that other schools want.

Honestly the betting line doesn't mean much. I forget how much HFA is worth but for ND to only be a 4 point favorite Vegas is basically calling the game a coin flip. I'd agree with that, maybe with a slight edge to Notre Dame.

People act as though he just started acting like this when he got to Notre Dame. LOL at the "way Kelly treats his players". Go back to the first thing guys said about Kelly when they choose ND as recruits under him and it goes back to the way Kelly treats them. He doesn't treat every player like that. He knows who he can and can't talk to like that.

To me, its odd that Kelly is so quick to pull the plug on Crist. Its almost self-incriminating...admitting that his ability to judge talent is so bad that his season-opening QB lasts 1 half before its on to the next guy.

Reminds me of Charlie Weis and Demetrius Jones. Jones is the #1 QB to start the year, gets pulled after attempting 3 passes, and never plays at Notre Dame again. How can a coach be so confident in a QB that he names him the season-opening starter, then lack such conviction and pull the QB in the 1st game?
