it doesnt matter if those people are gone. the school put these people in charge, these people represented Penn St, they allowed children to be raped...therefore the school allowed children to be raped
The Death Penalty is awful harsh but the NCAA does need to make an example out of stuff like this to show that it absolutely won't be tolerated. Putting a fucking game ahead of the well being of children is terrible. It doesn't matter if any of those involved are at the school or not, the program needs to be punished.
My problem with the "death penalty", is that who exactly are you 'teaching a lesson' to? The people responsible are either dead, in prison for 440 years, or about to be in prison. They fired everybody else, including the entire coaching staff.
So what or who would you be punishing? Brick & mortar? The idea of Penn St football? A dead guy?
To me, this is no longer a football issue. A death penalty makes no sense, and the NCAA has no place in this because it's a criminal investigation being handled by the people who need to handle it. Call the NCAA if they were changing grades or paying players. This is child rape, and people are concerned about football? I don't even think they should lose scholarships. I mean, who the fuck cares about scholarships? That nonsense is for improper benefits and football cheaters. Punishing the football program comes off petty, trite, and silly at this point. Put the rest of these fuckers in prison, that's what matters.
I just don't see what punishing a bunch of people who had nothing to do with this accomplishes. It's misplaced rage.
